Ok, now this just sounds too damned good and I wonder if anyone here has tried it.....
The new Nintendo Wii (for those that dont know) has funky little motion sensititve controllers, so when you are playing tennis, you actually swing the racket, when you are boxing, you throw punches and step back and forth, etc. And its cheap! There are a growing number of reports and news articles about how people are actually using this new toy to lose weight and exercise. I even read just yeserday a group of personal trainers in the US is highly reccomending it, as it gets kids flabby backsides off the couch to do something they love to do anyways.
I read a few personal blogs and websites where the users played the sports games for one hour a day, and basically changed nothing else in their lives, and noticed dramatic fitness results. Mixed with a healthy eating regime they did even better. Almost seems too good to be true, but logically it makes sense. Anything that gets us moving around more has to be helpful. Nintendo is currently working on another fitness realted package that will have all sorts of new games to get people up and moving. A far cry from video games of the past.
Has anyone here actually tried it though? I do like video games and I think my daughter would get a big kick out of it and it could be a fit activity we do together. Just curious to see if anyone has any input on this new device, good or bad. Personally I think the boxing and tennis look awesome and if I am going to play video games, why not at least be a little active about it...
Thoughts??
