Why?

Hi, i went on a diet a small while ago, where i lost 3kg, all i did was watch my food and jog for 15-20 min every night followed by 50 sit ups a night.

I did this for 4 weeks and lost 3kg, but i still did drink soft drink diet and some chocolate bars, what i dont get is why some people feel so guilty from just eating 1 single chocolate bar, it isn't like it will make you gain like 10 kg.

:(

a chocolate bar a week is ok ... but some people have problems if they can excuse having 1, they will have more. In fact, it is often recommended to have a "cheat day" where you eat whatever you want. If you keep to a strict diet throughout the week, your body will just go into high gear and burn off any crap you just put in your system. That, of course, fails if you do this more than once a week, because your body will consider it normal and start storing the food (as fat).

that's exactly it...I don't eat just one chocolate bar...or better, I do, but I do that every day. I have to have something sweet after a meal and as long as there is chocolate around - I'll eat it:(. It comes in phases for me, and right now I am definitely in the chocolate/sweets phase...I look forward when it's over, or when I finally run out...only a few bars (100g each) left.

a spouse, b/f, g/f, etc can sometimes help with this. Give them all to him/her and tell them to give any to you except under certain cercumstances ... of course, this could be a marriage breaker, so be careful ;) ... I've learned that it's not always a good idea to withhold chocolate from a women

actually AllCdnBoy, that works quite well at home....I hardly eat anything bad at home, and if, then only very small amounts, because my hubby stops me if I want to go overboard...and I'm thankful for it. My problem is at work....Computer Desk Job and always a box of cookies in the kitchen...nice colleagues that bring donuts and not to mention what I carry in my backpack...just in case....well I can't eat it at home, so I bring it to work. You think it might help to put a picture of him on my computer or desk - a la "big brother is watching you" ????

i don't think this would go over too well....i better just develop some real willpower and ignore the goodies. Christmas is going to be fun again.....

Cheat Day can be essential to some people if their motivation is not very powerful. But to some professional Body Builder or people who are cutting, all they have to do is forget all about those fatty foods and focus on what they have achieved and sacrificed.Just think about this before eating a whole pizza, would you want all your efforts go waste just like that?(Cheat day is exceptional though.)Or just have a look at the motivation picture that you carry all the time in your wallet or purse. It helps a lot actually.

And one more thing,I've been trough this many times already. One day,I realise that I sometimes have twice or three times cheat days a week. The usual cheat day always go as planned. But where the other two come from? They usually come from festivals or when my neighbour invites me to her house when she cooks something special or when there is something really special happened unplanned on that day like when someone bakes you something or your friend brought something special for you.It would be something unpleasant if I refuse it.But if I accept it,I would feel guilty. So,I decided to have a cheat meal once a week instead of cheat day.

And one more thing.Make sure your house is clean from all unwanted foods that have the potential to kill your effort. No chips in the cupboard. No burger patties in the freezer. No cookies in the cookie jar.No Chocolate bar in the fridge. No pop corn in the cupboard. And make sure your fridge have the supply of tahini or guacamole or salsa with celery sticks and baby carrots. But if you love to cook nice home made sweet treats like me,you can keep all the castor sugar, cooking chocolate and all other suffs and bake when you need to.But make sure you have a piece or half instead of the whole cake you bake!Good luck! :)
