Why is this so damn hard

I gained about 50 kilos over like two years ... long story short answer : The pounds need to go ..

I am struggling to even get the first day right ... I mean I know everything about how to eat correctly etc. (been in a LOT of classes etc.) but one thing doesn't change : You need the will .. and for some reason I don't have any in the moment. My blood pressure is up to the roof, my family has a hard attack history and my insurance company increased my policy (new policy) because I am obese ( BMI of 38) .. I am actually willing to lose some weight but it simply does not make "click" ... This is really frustrating ....

take it meal by meal.. stop looking at the big picture for the short term and just look at what's in front of you.. it makes it a lot easier to deal with...

Wanting to do this is a big step... dig deep down within yourself and find that motivation that will keep you going.. you can do this...

I got a lot of incentive when the scales started to go backwards and my belt became looser. Perhaps if you can really force yourself to eat more carefully and get some exercise, maybe just for a week to start with, you'll lose some of the weight and start to get more motivated. I was unmotivated for a long time, I knew I should lose weight, but just couldn't be bothered. Finally getting some weight off made a lot of difference to my attitude about it.

Starting is THE hardest part. I agree with the above, just take it one step at a time... really, minute by minute, second by second. I also recommend coming to these boards A LOT because it will definitely get you into positive mode, these boards are fantastic- I for one wouldn't be able to do it without it.

One you start, and you see results, and you feel better, you will ask yourself why you haven't done it earlier, its really the best thing anyone can do for themselves.

here's what has worked for me in terms of eating. I took sometime to research how many calories I wanted to take in per day (in my case 2000-2200, approx half of what it took to maintain my overweight weight), then I looked online for some sample menus. once I'd found enough I mixed them up and came up with my own meal plan for a week. I had it posted on my fridge and stuck to it. we're all creatures of habit, and this repetition showed me what a portion was and how to create balanced healthy meals.
I've been doing this for 2 months now and have lost 20 pounds. of course I exercise daily as well (another thing that has to be added as part of your daily routine). 30 minutes-1hr of walking/hiking.
all this stuff is about slowly changing your life, and replacing the unhealthy habits with healthy one. but the thing that needs to change first is mindset. you CAN do it.
