Okay, well I've been reading many many threads on these forums and other forums about a variety of fitness topics. On some of the posts I see advice that tells people to do 30 minutes of cardio 3-4 times per week and in other posts it says to do HIIT for a much shorter time 2-4 times per week. In the posts I'm referring to the person is seeking to have those 6-pack abs.
I understand that you would do cardio if you are going for endurance and wanted a better lung capacity... however I've read things that state that HIIT has those same effects as cardio PLUS builds anaerobic capacity. It just seemed a bit inconsistent to me that people wanting the same goals would get different answers... wouldn't everyone that wanted the six pack abs be recommended to HIIT since it burns up to 9x more fat than cardio and takes up much less time? I was just wondering because I did my first HIIT workout yesterday but since then I've seen posts telling others with similar goals as my own to do cardio instead of HIIT.
Basically my main question here is whether or not HIIT is better than cardio for the people trying to lose that last 3-5% of body fat while maintaining muscle... And if this is the case why would there be posts telling people with these goals to do cardio? Thanks for any responses.
