Why are people 'more rip' now?

So, I'm checking out some work-out/fitness/body building sites and I see these guys that are just amazingly rip, freakishly almost and then I see this other guy who looks pretty 'normal'.

Like, I swear, a guy at my local gym the other day looked more muscular than him. So I'm curious and I find out that he is 'Larry Scott' a body builder from like 1960. He won all sorts of titles

Mr. California 1960
Mr. America 1962
Mr. Universe 1964
Mr. Olympia 1965 and 1966

but he doesn't look that big.

Why are people so much bigger now?

steroids, working out harder because of the steroids that gives the extra boost.
but today most people are working out badley they work ver hard and they damage theyre body and just remember dont hurt your body because: "what goes around, comes around".

personally, i rather the look of they guys back then as compared to now.

scott, draper, reeves, pearl, gironda

I agree, there is a point where I'd be like 'Wow, I'm as rip as I want to be, any more and it'd creep me out'.

Of course, I realise I'll probably never even come close to reaching that point.

I'll be lucky to stick to my routine for more than 2 weeks. haha.

I think people are more rip now because of better body building techniques. Also, take a look at athletes (who don't use steroids because it's prohibited) now a days, they are beating the records of people set in the 60s. Things tend to be improved over time. I do think it's scary to see those people on magazines who are covered in veins, and it's just sickening. I have much higher respect for athletes then bodybuilders.

I mean, the big nasty ones, that spend their lives trying to look bigger. Not meaning to offend anyone who is getting in shape.

i heard one time that the amount of steroids bodybuilders of years ago used to take in a month, the ones of now take in a day

thats sad

maybe its the speed of modern life, a lot of people just want to build up really quick and not take time waiting for their body to naturally build up with the exercise so they hit the steroids massively.

yea, its a joke really. they're illegal but you know they're taking them and they "so said" get tested for them.

I am not a very frequent contributor to the site, but I've mentioned I live in Eeastern Europe (Bulgaria).
I am a pt and work at a chain of pretty big gyms (what you'd call the bulgarian Gold's).
Recently our boss put up a sign in the men's locker room that says " please throw your syringes and needles in the garbage can, not in the toilet can, it gets clogged, thank you!"
I s*** you not, I know two people at my gym who don't do roids (that's my husband and my training partner). Everybody does them, it's not openly legal but you can get them at the drugstore, at the supplement stores under the table, it's horrid.
Some guys get big so quick you have to look at them twice to check if it's the same guy sometimes.
I believe in natural strenght training and bodybuilding and this is what me and my training partner teach our clients, but it ends up being very demotivating seeing the huge guys who work out less and gain more in no time. It's difficult to teach work out ethics to people in a country like this.

That was a bit off-topic, but in my opinion what differentiates old bb from new ones has to do with better science, better supplements, food, stronger and less dangerous roids, more $ that can be spent on work out knowledge and more competition (which brings more motivation).

Good luck to everybody who is doing it naturally, it pays off!
