Which Of These Would Be Better For My Breakfast?

Hi.

I'm not sure which of these would be better to eat for my breakfast. Currently, I have a glass of water and an apple, but as I said, which do you think would be healthier/more balanced for me to eat alongwith those?

Special K Cereal -

Saturated Fat = 1.5g
Protein = 9g
Fibre = 0.8g

*This cereal allegedly helps you reduce body fat in you have it twice a day, once for breakfast and once as a snack.

Or...

Quaker OatSoSimple Porridge -

Saturated Fat = 2.2g
Protein = 8.9g
Fibre = 2.4g

*Contains no aritificial flavours or preservatives.

Thanks.

It allegedly helps you lose body fat because, well, it's a healthy replacement for whatever other junk you'd be eating if you WEREN'T having that cereal :)

They're both so similar that it really doesn't matter. Why not both? It's always good to mix stuff up - otherwise you get bored and start getting cravings.

Though, what about carbs (inc. amount of sugar)? Vitamins? Minerals? Those are all important things to compare as well.

fil hit it right on the head - special k helps you drop weight because eating it as 2 meals a day drastically reduces your caloric intake - as it's replacing something else which would probably be much higher in calories and fat. in fact my wife and i each lost about 15 lbs on that very diet, and have kept it off by eating sensibly ever since. and as fil said, why not mix the 2? we actually regularily mix 5 to 6 cereals to keep it interesting. just make sure you watch the portions so you dont eat too much of a good thing.

You want cleaner carbs and more calories in the morning instead of cereals.

I would ditch the cereals and stick with regular old fasioned oats, 1 cup with no added sugar. A fruit along with that would be good, plus some EFA's.
