which is more beneficial.....

Maybe not more benficial... but what are the advantages to these two things...

running 2 miles in say 16 minutes... high intensity

running 5 miles in one hour... medium intensity

As far as weight loss are you going to benefit more from the 1 hour run...or the 16 minutes run due to the intensity difference...

Cardiovascularly which is better?

any other pros to either approach...

obviously the brevity of the 16 min one is a plus....

your thoughts??

i'm far from a running expert, but i'd say the 2 miles in 16 minutes because it's high intensity and your heart rate is up. however, if you would take the 5 mile run with medium intensity and increase the intensity to high for a few minutes, then take it back down to medium, it could be beneficial too.

i do both, just depending on how i'm feeling that day. if i run faster (2 mi/16 min), i don't run at an incline. if i run farther (5 mi/hr), i run with a slight incline...i think that makes it more intense.

i'm sure there's someone out there that knows what they're talking about and won't just ramble like i do!! :)
