Which Barbell would people recommend?

I can't decide between these two York barbell/dumbell 50kg kits.

The first is

Which is slightly cheaper (cast iron), but i think has rubber stops on the inside end of the bar and metal spinlocks on the outside (see picture), to stop the weights from moving around.

The second is

which is chrome, and therefore a bit more expensive. This one, i've noticed has spinlocks on the inside (where the other has rubber stops), and obv also on the outside end.

Basically, i bought a really bad barbell that was useless cos the weights moved around A LOT, as the spinlocks were made out of plastic, and didn't do the job properly, so i want to make sure i get a reliable kit..

Your opinions would be much appreciated!

You might be better off in the long run if you went for a basic olympic barbell set:

In the US they are available in most sporting goods stores for around $100USD.

Olympic

I wish i could, and thanx for the recommendation, but at this point, its too much money! Which of the two i had do you think would be better?

Out of the two go with the first. There is no need for Chrome, especially if at some point you are hoping to update.

Having used those before though I warn to work on your grip strength very well with Farmers walks and that small bar with the rough grip can really work on your hands, build it up!

Yes, you're right - i have the dumbells already (but in the chrome), and i keep on meaning to get some gloves, cos they can really hurt your hands if you're doing an intense workout.

Are you sure that the weights on the cheaper barbell won't move around and can be securely tightened when you use it?

I personally have never had any issue with that with their use.

On an added note when you can don't use the stops, it helps you work naturally with your balance and stabilization system.
