Ok, here goes.

I love special k :) It's the breakfast of champions, or so I like to think hehe.

I think the hardest part of dieting for me, here lately, has been late night cravings. I can go strong all day, stick with some sort of a plan and stay within my calorie limit and then at night nothing sounds better than popcorn, or fruit, or really anything. It's frustrating. Another dieting flaw I have is lack of motivation to exercise. This is probably because the only free time I usually have is at night, and by then I'm so tired I don't feel like moving, much less sweating! I live near my parents and thankfully they've recently purchased an eliptical, so I'm hoping to get some serious use out of that. I just have to make it up in my mind that I want the weight gone, and get off my butt *sigh*.

I think I might try to make up some Crystal Light popcicles. That way at night when I want something sweet or whatever, I just just eat a couple cubes, get very few calories, and hopefully get the cravings to stop.

If anyone else has any "after supper" tricks up their sleeves, I would really appreciate them!

Save yourself some calories for after dinner...

and make sure you're consuming an appropriate amount of calories during the day...

Don't buy into the dieting myth that late night eating contributes to weight gain.. it doesn't -it's total calories consumed during the day...

I had never heard that... What with media saying stop eating at least 2 hrs before bed time, (which had me staying up later when I'd give into the food) or closing your kitchen down at 7:30. Makes me feel better that if I have the extra cals, I can have the snack.

Another thing that plagues me is Vitamin Water. I think of water being 0 cals and I can't bring myself to drink them because of the cals... just curious.

Yeah, the idea of not eating after a certain time is bunk. Like mal said, it's total calories that matter, not when they were eaten.

For my sweet craving, I keep a bag of individually wrapped dark chocolates in the cupboard. If I'm getting my sweet tooth, I'll have one square, which is normally less than 50 calories AND it's dark chocolate, so it's good for you :D

Its funny because we are alot alike. I also get tired after a long day and dont feel like working out. I really have to push myself. I bought an elliptical and put it in my livingroom, my boyfriend hates the location, but i love it. I like watching recorded soaps and i can stay on it for the whole show. Go ahead and eat a snack after dinner, I dont think it will hurt. As long a you eat in moderation. I am not a late night snacker, but if i wanted something I'd get it.

ohhhh I LOVE SPECIAL K TOO...the yogurt and berries is really good. Sometimes thats all I feel like eating.

vitamin water is like 150 calories a bottle -if you can fit them into your day - enjoy -I personally prefer my calories in the form of food.. unles it's Guinness.. .

nomorefatdad --- I'll definitely try to get me some dark chocolate. I <3 sweets!

I think I have a cereal addiction!!!! And I wish my parents would have set their eliptical up in the living room... would be much easier to watch t.v. while exercising lol...

My thoughts exactly! I think I'll save my cals for something a little heavier lol

That made me laugh! Seemed like something I'd do :)

Awh thanks everyone for replying to me... makes me feel great! xD :grouphug:

Now to find everyone's diary and reply where needed ;)

I must say if anything, this site has been enlightening.

I guess I've always went about dieting the wrong way. Though I was able to lose the weight before it could have just been because I was 17 and playing softball for 3+ hours a day.

As of tomorrow, I'm going to view calories differently. Apparently I'm supposed to eat around 1,634 cals a day, with exercise, and drop 1 lb a week. I've been sticking to under 1,200 and have been stuck at 168 lbs. for almost a month now. Something's gotta change!

I truly am experiencing the weirdest feeling. I don't think I'm afraid of food anymore.

Well I weighed this morning just to see if the evil number had changed. It hadn't still at 168 lbs.

I somehow managed to kick the eliptical last night and now my leg is so sore that it hurts to walk. But exercise I shall...

I had to take my puggle puppy, Hermione (can you tell I like HP?), to the vet today to be spayed. She has to stay overnight and quite frankly I'm extremely worried about her. She's never stayed away from us overnight and she has extremel separation anxiety.

Today's Dilemma:

I've been trying to be a more positive person. I am a huge "hot head" and seem to get mad easily so I've been trying to not sweat the small stuff. Well I've tried not to be rude to people and not snap easliy, that sort of thing. So for the past week, I've tried to contact the Vet's office to find out an exact amount of money I would need to pay for the services... they kept feeding me lines about options varying the cost and that we could figure it out the day of surgery.

Now up to this point, I feel I've been patient. I went in expecting around $150to be paid and all these "options" that he said I HAD to get brought my total near $400. I broke down... very annoyed at this point, and said, "Look, money is tight in my household and I don't think I can afford for her to have this surgery. This was a mistake." Well he starts shaking his head and saying he knows what I mean and I say, "No, don't act like you understand. My husband was diagnosed with cancer last fall and cancer is very expensive. So when I say we watch every penny, we literally have to watch every penny."

Well after that, he simply took my paper, crossed out all the extra garbage he said was manditory five minutes before, told me non of that mess was really necessary, and then told me my total would be $127.

WHY couldn't he have said that at first?! WHY wait until someone nearly breaks down crying over this supposed cost that has to be paid ASAP? WHY try to make someone pay extra when people already are dipping into their piggy banks to pay for gas?!

Ok, I've vented now.

BTW, my hubby is now 2 months cancer free!

this is my beautiful little baby that was previously mentioned :)

I am missing here something terrible right now

Ok, my mom just brought me a measuring tape thinger... so I did the deed and I am SO not excited about my measurements :( Oh well... I'm going to measure every month to see my progress. Especially since I'm now going to try to attempt jogging and working my butt off hardcore lol.

Chest: 42"
Waist: 42" ---- under my belly button because that's where I wear my clothes.
Hips: 42"
Thigh: 24"
Arm: 13"
Across shoulders: 21"

Note how I'm technically a plump stick figure. haha I kept getting 42 and about fell out, lol!

Workout Tips?

Ok, I'm looking at my measurements and I don't understand why my clothing is a 32 and my inches are 42? Did I do something wrong?! ... might remeasure.

Okie doke today is the day to start setting myself some serious goals! I've started feeling completely down about my weight and have really been lazy with my exercise so I'm going to set myself personal goals for each day.

We've just gotten an eliptical and that thing KILLS me. So I'm setting myself a goal of being on the eliptical for 10 mins everyday. I want to fast pace walk/nearly jog for at least 2 miles a day, and then I need something to do with my arms now. I have 5 lb weights but I have no idea about reps and what's the best things to do to work out the whole arm so any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Also I really don't know if this is enough/too much/ needs to be altered in any way. So feel free to let the suggestions roll!

what do you mean your clothing is a 32?

read the stickied threads i the exercise forum you'll get lots of ideas there..

like the bottom clothing I have some read ladies size 12 and then I have a couple pieces that were more expensive that I got years ago and have just gotten back into and it says size 32 (12)... I have no idea I guess I just assumed that the 32 was inches. :/

I can feel the burn!

Well I am beat!

Today was the day I changed everything. I ate correctly, I kept up with what I ate, and I exercised. I'm really quite excited about it all because honestly I was just plain tired tonight, then I decided exercise isn't going to be an option for when it's convenient. No, it's manditory if I plan to get in shape and be healthy.

I also started a FitDay journal thing, but I'm still learning how to use that thing. A lot of the foods I've eaten today weren't available in the lists.

Intake: 1,302 cals 25 Fat 192 carb 78 protein

Outtake: 10 mins on elliptical + leslie sansone's 4 fast miles DVD + 50 jumping jacks + 50 bicep curls each.

this all took me about 1 hr and 15 mins... Let me tell you I was SO happy to get into the shower, and I'm sure my family was happy I did too!

The progress will be slow, but at least it's progress.

try that:

but as the link points out - every manufacturer sizes differently and some cut more generously than others...
