Where to start.

Im new and not really sure where to start so I thought I would jump in here and if Im in the wrong spot someone will point me in the right direction.

Im just in the begining of my weight loss and really having a hard time staying focused and I think thats because a lack of support.
Everyone in my life "supports me" but they really dont support me. Anytime I talk about wanting to loose weight not only to look better but to be healthier I always get. "oh you dont need to loose weight your beautiful just the way you are"

I currently weight 231lbs (Im 5'6") I would like to get down to 150.
This is the biggest Ive ever been I was always the skinny chick till I had kids. When I got pregnant with my first daughter I weighed 135lbs. Now 10yrs and 5 kids later Im almost 100 lbs heavier.

I currently have a membership to the local gym but dont really have the motivation to get there.

I guess Im looking for some words of advice about how you keep motivated and moving forward toward your goal.

Im really hoping that coming here will give me some motivation and accountability.

Thanks for listening.

Hey Mommato5 :) First let me say welcome to the forum...if it's support you need you've definitely come to the right place! As far as where to post it's np that you posted here but that may be why somebody else hasn't responded yet. You should definitely introduce yourself in the "newcomers" thread also...can just copy and paste this there if you want.

So I'm not sure what you've figured out navigating your way around. You most definitely want to start your own journal in the "weight loss diary" section. It's a great place to track your progress but also for all of us to swing by and say hi and chat :) Also if you want to find any person's diary so you can do that, just click on their name and it'll give you several options...one of them is to look at their profile. Then you can go under 'statistics" and then "threads they have started" and find THEIR journal and keep track of new friends.

You definitely want to check out the stickied threads at the tops of each forum topics as you can....LOTS of great info there. Also if you are wondering about something specific there's a search feature that works pretty well.

Alot of people here, including me, use an outside tool to help us track or calories. I use fitday.com but sparkpeople has one that's good too...I just started at fitday first. It makes stuff very easy...just plug the food in and it calculates it and even breaks down your nutrients in a cool pie graph. Oh and not long ago they gave us our own albums in our profile so you can load pics there and also in the "before & after" thread. Now THERE'S a place to check out if you want some inspiration :)

Well don't want to overwhelm you but if you need any help or get stuck with anything just hit me up...you can either pm me or swing by my journal. Good luck and again, welcome :D ~Lisa

Thanks so much for all the great advice.

I did introduce myself over in the newcomers thread, but just been lingering since...)

Im going to check out the site you recommended. I dont know if its like the site I currently use but I have been using thedailyplate.com and love it.

Im going to follow your adive thanks for all the help. Also thanks for letting me know I can come to you if I need some help!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Oh I ended up at the dailyplate the other day for something...it may be just as good but I didn't have time to see if it lets you log your daily food. If so you're already in great shape :) And sorry if you didn't get any answers in the newcomer thread....it gets so busy sometimes that new posts get bumped down fast. Well I'm off to work, I'll look for ya tomorrow :D ~Lisa
