Where To Start?

Just getting ready to start losing weight and I am feeling a bit overwheled about where to begin. Should I start with diet, exersize, attitude, or all at once?

Start with attitude. An attitude that is miserable will not succeed. But one that has confidence will. Make up your mind to do it, once and for all. Then, I started with exercise. I find it easier to diet if I am busting my butt. Hey, I don't want all of my hard work to be wasted by a meal at McDonald's. Stay on here, check out some recipes, check out sparkpeople, too for good ideas and calorie and exercise logs. Keep track of EVERYTHING! Yes, it's a major pain, but it's what will really help you see how you lose weight.

Good luck, keep me posted.

thanks you

Thank you for the advice! I think that you are right. I heard a quote once that what happens to us and how we respond is 95% attitude and 5% circumstances. I have tried many times since my son was born. I was so little before he was born 125lbs! After he came I gained and lost. Then I had a hysterectomy in April 2004. I have had a horrible time losing. I feel terrible being so big, I don't even know who I am anymore when I look in the mirror. I am so tired of it, I want the old joyful me back. I know I am in there somewhere. Ever had that feeling? Thank you for the encouragement!

What I did and whats helping me is I set goals. I told my self that in the next 3 months I plan on jog/walking 50 miles. You can set goals for anything though. They are great to keep you on track.

I think you are right too. I am getting the feeling that setting small goals first is a good thing. I bet it feels great when you accomplish them?

Yup, I have run just 5 of my 50 miles, but I already feel great, thats 10% of my goal knocked out. I know when I reach my 50 miles I'll be crusing through my jog unlike now, haha.

WOW! That is great! I used to run 4 miles every morning, since I have gained weight it is so hard to run. I would love to do it again. Gotta start slow I suppose, the weight didn't come on in a few days, won't come off that quick either. By the way, I am so new to this forum stuff, how do you chat in the chat room, do others have to add you to their buddy list before you get responses? I know, duh. Still learning

For sure! We get very frustrated when we hit that not losing weight anymore mark, but it takes time. Time to put it on, time to take it off. I think patience and endurance. It is hard to stay motivated after the first few weeks. I am so pumped and excited to start my new goal and then about 3 weeks in, it like man this is hard and why is it sooo.... hard?
