When to do sprints?

I really want to get better with sprints. I was wondering on which days to do them. Here is how my training schedule generally works out, though with PL my coach mixes things up every day.

Monday - Main focus - Bench Press and upper body

Tuesday - Main focus - Squats and lower body/back

Wednesday - OFF DAY

Thursday - Main focus - Bench Press and upper body

Friday - Main focus - varies weekly with a mix of squats a/o DLs and lower body/back

Other things are mixed into those workouts, but generally Monday and Thursday are upper body work and Tuesday and Friday are lower body work. I have the weekends off as well.

I was wondering when I could do sprints. The lower body workouts are usually killer (Powerlifting routines) and I feel them the rest of the day and usually the day after. So I am wondering when I could do sprints.

I was going to say immediately after your upper body work, so monday and thursday, BUT since you have lower body work the next day I won't say that anymore. Since your PL schedule seems pretty set, I would put the sprints on sundays.

Saturdays would be too soon after friday's lower work, and mondays and thursdays would be the day before lower work, so sunday would seem like the best bet with what you have now.

Sprinting is akin to speed training. You could do it on the same day as your speed squat days as well. To have significant improvement you will have to sprint train 2 - 3 days per week.

I also do shot put and discus. At those practices we basically have a schedule of 2 days of throwing, and 1 workout day. The workout day generalyl consists of stairs and variations of stairs, box drills, medicine ball drills, and sprints. We had a workout day Friday where we did those and then did a sprint across the football field, back, then back, then back gain. So we crossed the football field 4 times. That was considered 1. We did that 4 times.

I'll add in the Sunday sprint workout to make it at least 2-3 days.
