When should you increase the Weight?

Iv been working out for over a year with the same Weight and never feel motivated to lift bigger Weight.

I only increase the number of set thats all!

So when should I increase the Weight I lift?

And is it something that you have to do all the time or is there a time when you can stay with the same Weight?
 
What kind of excercises were you using? How many sets did you go up in those excercises? How much rest between sets?

Well mostly free weight for my arms and shoulder (I dont use machines)

I actully go for 4 set of 12 per different arms and shoulder workout with a 20lb weight.

I normaly rest like 5 to 10 sec in the set and 30 sec when I change of body part!

Its been doing great result for me cuz people think I look bigger but I still feel sort of small around the shoulder and I dont know what could make theme bigger!
 
To answer your original question you do want one of your progression methods to include increasing the load. Its probably the main one. But its fine to increase sets and reduce minutes also.

What are your goals? What kind of equipment do you have?
 
For 12 reps, you should have to push hard to get the last two out. If you don't need to push, you need to increase the weight.

But do it slowly. A lb or 2 at a time is enough.
 
My goal would be to be fit but not HUGE! I just wanna feel healthy and not be to skinny. I have a baby face so if im to skinny people can think Im a gurl..lol

My ideal body is a mix between a surfer and brad pitt (club fight)

I have bench press , a machin I guess its called the stair machin or something like that, I have a bicycle, lots of bare and free wieght.
 
just increase the weight whenever you feel you need to do so. I always know when something is begginning to be too light because it becomes easier, i don't want my body to adapt and not grow so i put it under extra stress by increasing the weight this way it is forced to grow.

5 - 10 seconds rest on each set is insane! for a rep range of 6 - 12 you want to rest for 90 - 120 seconds each set.
