When medical reasons inhibit dieting....

So Im wondering if there are other people here that might have medical reasons they have to work around when "dieting" and how they do it?

Take me....I have two things

#1 is artificial sweetner is a MAJOR migraine trigger for me which means that I cant touch just about anything labeled "sugar free" because even the tiniest bit of AS will send me to sleep in a dark closet with a bucket.

#2 is that I have hemochromatosis (which is the opposite of anemia...my liver wont process iron and I have too much) and I have to be VERY careful of eating foods with iron...drives me batty because I adore spinach and broccoli but I cant have them (well...broccoli in VERY small amounts, but never spinach). Beans are bad, red meat is almost always out along with anything "whole grain"

As for how I do it? Well I dont eat/drink anything "sugar free", there is no way around that one. Fortunately the meats I need to be eating (the white meats) dont give me a problem and there are other veggies that are just as healthy....or I give into temptation and eat iron stuff and suffer the consequences lol

how about anyone else? Anything that inhibits "traditional" dieting for you?

sorry to hear about your hemochromatosis.

as far as drinking, you can always drink water, the best drink out there.

oh ITA.....I can already tell a big change in things since I cut out my sodas lol, and to be honest before we knew that it was AS's that were making my head hurt there wasnt a diet drink out there I could stomach the taste of lol
