when do you start seeing the results?

Hi all,

i am amazed to see such a huge changes in the weight of you all in this category. congratulations and thank you for keeping me motivated.

i started my serious weight loss journey about 3 weeks ago and i do not see any significant changes in my weight. it ranges from 153 to 156 all the time.I do definitely feel that i am more toned and my clothes are little more relaxed to me. however i would love to see my weight dropping in the scale.I guess I am too impatient..................i would be little relaxed once my weight goes to 140s.

When I started my fitness/health plan I was weighing myself once a week and generally dropping 1kg (or 2 pounds) each week. It may have been a little slower in the end but not by much.

If your weight seems to be going up and down like a yoyo maybe you need to weigh yourself less. Your weight can change in small ways just in the course of a day, depending on what you've eaten how much water you've had etc. Weigh yourself less often (say once every 2 weeks?) and you may find your weight actually is decreasing on the whole.

Results depend for everyone. For me personally, my body is like a week or more behind the scale. I look down at the scale and see I've lost 10 lbs in a month and 2 weeks later my waist will catch up.

It also depends on the exercise plan to which you adhere. People who start off by building up muscle won't see much shift in weight (they may even gain) but they, much like you, will start to feel differences such as looser clothing.

If your clothes feel looser than normal, whatever you're doing is working and you should stick to it. If, at the end of a month, maybe 6 weeks, you still haven't lost any weight and your clothes don't seem to be changing, I would reevaluate your plan.

Last tidbit of advice. Always, always, always bust your butt when you're working out. I'm not saying to kill yourself, but make sure your body knows that you're taking it back.

A tape measure would be a good idea. Weekly measurements will give you a very good idea of where you are at.

If your clothes feel looser then you are doing something right.

thank you for the replies.

my problem is that i cannot stop myself from weighing several times a day. I am surprised that that the weight can change upto 3 lbs in a day.from today i will weigh myself once a week .i will be too impatient to wait till weeks ...........hehe................yes i also do weight training, ....my muscle mass must be increasing!......i feel great!

You're weighing yourself several times a day? No wonder then! Lol.

In the beginning I'd be tempted to weigh everyday out of curiosity. If that is the case for you, do what I did: Have a set day in which you weigh yourself and record your weight for that day only. If you can't help weighing yourself earlier that's fine but don't record that weight and understand that it is not a good indicator and that the real indicator is the day you chose compared with the same day of the following week and so on. Good luck
