whats up?

New to the forum here. Been on a regimen for about a month now. Started at 209lbs and have since lost 12lbs. Whats been working for me is resistance training 3-4 days a week, cardio (30-45 min) 3-4 days a week, and watching what Ive been eating. Im not counting calories, but just making sure to stay away from fried foods, sodas, and eating more fruits and veggies (no meals past 7pm!). Oh, ive also incorporated HIIT into my training about 2 weeks ago (twice a week) and have noticed that Ive lost about 7-8 lbs since then. I have about another 30-35 lbs to lose until i get back to the weight i was at when i used to be in good shape. Anyway, Ill check in every so often and update my progress.

Great job so far! I love your name Bunk!!! lol I love that song too. I look forward to seeing you progress. Have a great week.

Thanks jelly. My name is actually a derivative of that song funkphenomenon. I was sitting one day trying to come up with a new email addy, and that song was playing in the background. Good side note of my name is that all the girls think that bunkphenomenon is an adjective of me.. lol.

Yeah, I tried getting back into it about 5 years ago, but didnt see much of a change after a couple months and got frustrated (of course, my schedule at the time didnt allow me much time to prep any food... so micky dees and Jack were meal companions) I used to be able to eat anything i wanted and not gain any weight. But now i believe what people tell me about getting old and metabolism! hehe

Hey bunk, welcome.

What type of HIIT training are you doing? I think i want to start doing it and I hear people really start losing weight quickly. Care to elaborate?

bgdave, Im by no means an expert on HIIT. But Ive been doing it on an elliptical machine. 3-5 min warmup then:
30 seconds @ maximum effort
1 min moderate

I do about 6-8 "sets" of this and then for the cool down, just walk around the gym a few times.

you can adjust the time intervals depending on your conditioning. I started off at 15 seconds of max effort and 30 seconds moderate, but found that I wasnt recovering fast enough, so decided to increase the moderate interval time.
