Hi there...

My story... I have been struggling with weight for the past 8 or 9 years now. My problem is my yo-yo-ing. I will go up and down 20 lbs easy.... and currently, I am on the upside! :(

I want to stop the yo-yo. I want to lose enough weight to look and feel good, be healthy, but also be able to maintain the healty weight.

It is my goal to be about 20-25lbs less then where I am at now. Then I will be at a healthy weight for me!

I have a vacation coming up in November to a resort in the Dominican Republic - which is also some motivation for me to get back on track! I have 7 weeks.... with hopes to lose about 12-15 lbs in that time!

I have followed weightwatchers in the past - and had a lot of success with it. So that will be my guide as an eating plan. And - I like to jog - and haven't in a while. So - it is a goal to get back into jogging!

So - there's my story!

Welcome to the forum! :)

A lot of success with WW, huh.

I equate success as being permanent weight loss. Not just weight loss.

Why do you think you yo-yo?

I yo yo because I have been looking at weight loss in a short term way. I will drop all the weight and then let my gaurd down... I need to look at my eating and fitness habits as a lifestyle change... and not just as a way to lose weight...

I basically just get lazy!

Thanks for the welcome!

A lifestyle change is exactly the way to look at it. Do some reading and you'll find that eating healthy isn't bad at all. Everybody cheats on their diets. Who cares? As long as you keep eating healthy then an occasional splurge won't hurt.

Find some good fintess books or magazines and do some research. Make sure you do this the healthy way or the weight will yo yo back up again.

Good luck!

Hey yoyo,
I used to yoyo up and down all the time between fifteen pounds less to fifteen pounds gained ..until I was put on some meds that made me gain weight ..they go to the extent where they actually are an appetite increase med ..was on a few of those ... and the weight is hard to get off .. I just took off seven pounds I had gained back over the course of two months ..but I have lost them ...

but ...back to you ...
You should find a diet that doesnt send you yoyoing ...
Weight Watchers probably would work.. I just hope you can stick with it for a lifetime ... as its a "life style change"
We all consider our ways of changing food "a life style change" and not a diet and you are in the right mind set :)

You should be really proud of yourself for reaching out to people on here and taking the first step to better eating and a healthy way to lose weight

I am sure you have checked other people's diaries out ..which is a really good idea ...

You may want to start your own diary ..to get more motivation and support and gain more knowledge on how to lose weight and you will most likely have users investing in your diary and you ...

best wishes to a new you!

Your story sounds quite familiar to me. I too have been a yo-yo'er and have heard that can be just as bad as maintaining a weight that is unhealthy. I have tried quite a few diets like "deal a meal", Atkins, and Weight watchers. I think the WW is the best option for me, but my struggle is when I step on the scale and see no loss or a small gain and then blow all of my progress based on that one result. But now I am tryin to re program my head and with the support of this forum hope to have permanent success.

Remember that healthy weight loss is not only about the calories you take in, and the calories you burn, but your focus and mood matter jsut as much!

Good luck!
