whats better run or the bike?

what is better to loose some body fat, run or the bike, and does they use the same muscles, i will like to do them both but i`m afraid my muscles burn

do interval training on teh treadmill. I personally think running is better. Interval training is when you jog and go for it as fast as possible for something like 30 seconds and then jog for 2 minutes. theres loads of variations. this is an excellent way to reduce fat and not lose the muscle.

Bike is definitely better on your joints, running will get your heart rate up much faster. As far as a workout, I'd say running is a much better workout.

bike, 30mins, 3 times a week, i reduced my bodyfat by 11% in 2 and a half months, my legs and forearms leaned out a bit also

Which one do you like better? That is the one you will be more likely to do on a regular basis, so do that one!

ed gasket, that is way 2 impressive man! what did you like do on the bike? like 30 mins at one speed all the way through or interval?

agreed.

whichever exercise gives you the longest intensity over the longest period of time is the one to choose. When I was 19, I got super cut over the summer biking all over town.

what I plan on doing is a combination - some biking, some running, some basketball, some swimming...

I find running and biking are both great, but including a good session on the rowing machine is great too. Just got back into training and darn it that machine gives a good all round workout!

for practical every day reasons, running is a better way to train unless you race bikes. biking is quite an un-natural movment and normally your legs get tired before your worn out, which is bad if your trying to loose weight.

i mainly run but use the bike as a break once a week, or when my knees feel a bit abused.

i bike for between 20-30 mins using sprint intervals for the last 15 mins. when i started on the bike i found that the slightly un-natural movement cause severe thigh ache the day after, so a quick stretch halfway through really helps prevent lactic acid build up, and is supposedly better at developing muscle anyway.

you wont gain a significant amount of muscle by riding. you will only loose fat giving the muscle deffinition.

to build muscle you need to be doing heavy resistance exercises.

o yeah i know that but my plan is to start bulking and all days run (not to much 40 mins) and sunday leave it for rest:D i like both sports but i have a race in april 9 ,10 kms so i will keep running... maybe next week i will start my bulking phase!... :D :D thanks!
