Whats a good amount of fat in a day?

I have heard everything from 40grams to 400 grams what would you say is ideal for someone trying to lose weight im 6-4'5 and weigh 229 trying to get down to 190-200. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
 
Ya, but make sure their healthy fats, u dont want to eat a load of saturated and trans :eek:

Hmmm, not sure what this is in the % of my diet but i have about 20-25 g of healthys fats and day and almost none unhealthy ones.

how many total calories are you eating each day?
 
if you figure 2500 calories a day, 20 to 30% of that would be b/w roughly 56 and 83 grams of fat a day.

and if we go as low as 15%, it would be roughly 42 grams. personally i always aim b/w 25-30% :)
 
I'm at 30% of my calorie intake, on a somewhat lowcarb diet (30% to 20% instead of the recommended 40%), and I adjusted the total of calories to lose weight.
(I mean bodyfat ofcourse)
Currently I'm on a roughly 1600 kilocalories a day and 30% fat of that is 52 grams.
