What to look for when choosing a PT?

A few number of Personal Trainers in my gym have been bugging me that I need them to improvise my workout style. I do think that I need one too because I really want to look great in a balanced way.

However, some of them are good and some aren't (from what I heard).

What do I check or see when choosing a PT? because they do cost loads and I wouldn't want to waste on some stupid fella.
