What to do?

I have lost 70lbs since February and I am now 210lbs, standing at 5'11". My body was always chubby even when I was young and thin. I gained the 70lbs. about 3 years ago and I have now lost it, but I have a high body fat count. I look thin but my pecs and stomach are very flabby. What kind of workout regimen should I do to tone myself up? And could it be done? I ask because many people say its almost immpossible to tone up after losing that much weight. Someone please point me in the right direction.

Hi, Shugz.

If I read your post correctly, you are saying that you lost lots of weight, but still have that extra skin hanging around? That's what you want to get rid of, but people are saying it's not possible? If that's right...

The best thing you can do (and you already may be doing it) is to weight train. The more lean muscle you have the better. That extra skin is left over from when you were bigger. It's almost like skin that stretched in order to cover the fat. Now that the fat is gone, the skin is still stretched. The bigger your muscle are the less extra skin you will have.

I have found that most people get surgery to get rid of that extra skin. If you are young, it make tighten a bit on its own. Otherwise Im not sure what you could do. I know I wasn't able to get a definitive answer, but I hope this helps a teeny bit.

Give it time. It took time to gain weight, time to lose, and now you want to tone. For sure give it time.

Most probably a dr would have you lose more weight anyway, or for sure exercise for a while, before doing any surgery on you.
