What is your favourite exercise ?

There are a fair number of us on the forum that have exercise as a big part of either their weight loss/maintenance plan. this thread may give people a few more ideas of exercises they could include in their own routine.

for me prior to my injury I would have said Bench Press without hesitation but now my favourites would include Squat, Leg Press, Hamstring Raises and tyre flips.

I LOVE squats!!

I also love jogging and aquafitness (especially deep water!)

At this stage, probably the cross trainer (elliptical). There's a great deal of flexibility with how hard or easy you can make it and I can really push myself in a short period of time without damaging my knees. That being said, as I get fitter I'm finding the stepper (/ climber- sort of like a stairmaster but with pedals rather than moving stairs) to be more enjoyable. It's something of a challenge to overcome and every time I go on it gets a little easier on my knees, which is really gratifying. I also like the results I get from weights but I don't think I'm yet getting "bang for my buck", although I suspect that will change when I switch to lower rep, higher weight, and I learn some more things with free weights.

Recreationally, I really enjoy swimming. (And my least favourite things to do are ab exercises- they seem to be virtually endless in my program and they're all but painful)

i recently started going to salsa classes and i have to say there the best thing out there! you sweat way more than you would in the gym and its just a really fun way to learn something new :)

I love running. Right now I run for 7 km three times a week. I couldn't go to a gym because I hate working out indoors, I just get bored.

I like using my treadmill, especially on a higher incline and slower setting, it makes me feel like I have powerful legs. I also like pushups and curls, nothing really makes you feel like a strong man after doing some pushups. hahaha.

Basketball or Raquetball!

I was awful at both when I started working out, but im a lot better now, and it gets even more fun the better you are. Also, its deceptive how much you end up working out.

I take back what I said about swimming as a recreational thing. I just love swimming. Today I did it in place of most of the rest of my planned cardio because I overdid the weights, and I bet I worked much harder/ burned more calories for much less exhaustion.

Various Routins, Pilates, weight lifting etc

I have changed my exercise programmes few times until I've found the one that suits me - not the one that other people like.
I currently do Pilates and couple times a week I do workout with free weights, especially with dumbbells( I love [link removed] Try them. They are so good and you can change the weight so easy and quick). Anyway, Because Pilates is quite slow I sometimes feel that I need to add some power to my routine and I think weight lifting is the best then.
Balanced diet is also very important. I try my best to eat only healthy staff and dont trash my body with crap food. I have tried some many different routins.
Anyway, I think you should see some instructor, trainer etc and explain what results you expect to see and Im sure they will be able to help you :) :chillpill:

Have a good evening, Joanna :) :blush5:

Got to be barbell dead lift .. Great feeling when you lift a 200kg bar from the ground especially when its a skinny guy lol. Cant beat BB Bench Press with some weighted Dips :) I do 100m Sprints as well.

Biking/cycling outdoors. There's nothing quite like it. Using your own power to travel, and getting to experience the environment you're travelling in. Can be quite a rush on the downhills, and climbing to the top of a real hill is so much more rewarding (in my mind) than in a spin class.
