What is Kapalbhati?

Hey guys, I have heard about this yoga technique. People say it is very effective for weight loss. I have been doing it for 1 month approx but not seeing any results. It is a hype?
 
exercise is good for weight loss :) If you are exercising, it is benefiting ... some forms are just better than others. Want to really lose weight, go swimming. By far one of the best full body exercises for the whole body and great for the joints.

Swimming is undoubtedly a very effective weight loss exercise. A person who does swimming a lot stays in shape no matter what he eats. But I'm concerned about a special exercise technique which they call "Kapal-Bhati". Do you have any idea what it is about?
 
Kapalbhati might help you grow a scraggy beard, but it is not going to help you lose weight.

To lose weight you have to consume less calories or burn more calories or both.

Thanks Dave. But, doesn't this exercise burn calories? I have heard it burns more calories than what walking does.
 
@matishugo - I am not an expert in these matters, but I don't see how sitting in a knee straining pose, breathing heavily while listening to sleep inducing flute music can burn more energy than a long, brisk walk. The 'bearded one' talks a great talk, but that's all it is in my opinion, a lot of talk.

Yoga is indeed a method to lose weight but to compare it with Cardio exercise it pails in comparison. For a person that weighs 160 pound if he does a yoga and posed stretching for an hour it burns 180 calories but moderate aerobic exercise burns 475 calories.
