What I Eat Now.. Change Suggestions?

Breakfast: 2/3 cup oatmeal and protein powder
Midmorning: 1 hardboiled egg
Lunch: 3 1/2 ounces of fish, a medium grapefruit and veggies
Midafternoon: 1 hardboiled egg
Dinner: 3 1/2 ounces of fish, a medium potato and veggies
Evening: 2/3 oatmeal and protein powder

I eat oatmeal and take protein shakes (post wrokout) too. It's good you eat potatoes because they are complex carbohydrates (slow burning carbs) and a good source of vitamin C. About the eggs... i'd only eat the egg whites (high protein, low calorie) but i dont eat the yolk (look up the nutritional value of the egg yolk on the internet and it will shock you). The Department of Nutrition says

"Eggs : An average egg contains about 5-6g of fat. The way eggs are cooked considerably affects the energy and fat content, therefore choose boiled, poached or scrambled (with skimmed or semi-skimmed milk) rather than fried eggs to keep the fat and energy content down. Also aim to keep egg consumption to approx. 3-4 per week."

If I'm not in the mood for oatmeal, I get wheat bread (also a complex carbohydrate) and get fish or chicken breast or any low fat, high protein substitute. I really avoid white rice.

I don't add butter or margarine (even if margarine is vegetable based) or sugar to any of what I eat too (i get my sugar from fruits). Where are your fruits anyway? Not even an apple? Oh and one last thing, I usualy start my breakfast with jasmine tea (it's a green tea with a blend) because it's gives me a more satiated feeling.

I'll nix my yolks, I was thinking of tossing them out myself. Would I then try and eat more than one egg as a midmorning/midafternoon snack without the yolk?

I am obsessed and love the texture of oatmeal, so me having it twice a day makes me a happy kitty.

I eat a grapefruit at lunch if that's anything positive to add.. and I drink jasmine or bancha tea before I settle down for bed :)

In 1 large egg, the YOLK contains 5 grams total fat, 2 grams saturated fatty acids, 213 milligrams cholesterol, and 60 calories.

The EGG WHITE contains 15-17 calories(only!)

This link contains the nutritive value of eggs (just Yolk and just the egg white). Please note the amount of protein for the egg whites (which is high considering it is very low in calories). Some friends of mine boil 3 and eat just the egg whites (all at once after weight training). Some people even cook scrambled egg whites for breakfast. They call it the modified omelet ^_^ Yes it's ok to snack on egg whites. What I usually do is beat the egg whites and get a slice of wheat bread, dip it into the beated egg whites and put it in an oven toaster! A complex carbohydrate - protein power snack! Grapefruit is ok because it lowers cholesterol too. I think it's also rich in vitamin C due to its citric nature.

One egg white has about 15 calories - so for your snacks, you will definitely need to add more. I usually have 4-5 egg whites a few times per day, with some fruit or veggies. The combination of lean protein and fibre/complex carbs will really fill you up and give you energy.
