what can I prepare to eat at lunch?

I'm still in high school and I was wondering what I could take to school for lunch. There's no way I can refrigerate anything or warm anything up... is there anything I can do to actually eat healthy because there is nothing at my school that is really "healthy" to eat... thanks in advance for your replies... :)

That's my problem...I can't eat eggs... they come back up... and they don't taste that great when they do...

DD is an 11th grader (also hates the school lunch) and packs herself tuna with cut up celery and tomato, onions, pickles, peppers, etc. She brings an ice pack and it stays cold. She also sometimes brings a salad with dressing in a plastic container and she says it stays fine unrefrigerated.

She also takes bread or rolls with her; can you get whole wheat or 6 grain to healthy it up?

Also - check out storage options - maybe you can get yourself a kind of luchbag that's insulated.

I also pack myself a salad, but I eat an apple or melon salad right after it, I'm not full enough with just a bucket of greens!

Sandwiches with whole wheat bread, OM turkey cold cut and fat free cheese slice. Each sandwich will be 25 gms of protein and 350 calories approx.

thank god for this thread, I have the same problem. I've just gotten better and wanted to get my diet/exercise program on the rails. Lunch at home, no prob..but at school. I was kinda lost there. We also have this cafeteria at school that only sells stuff like burgers, fries chocolate, everything high in fat & junk calories. Today I was lucky: some classes dropped and I lunched in town, having a nice salad.

For tommorow, I packed some sandwiches with whole weat bread and a baked egg (baked in that fat-free baking stuff.) How's that? (my goal being losing fat & gaining muscle)

(Pardon for bumbing in here like that btw. But I felt it was unneccecary to create a new thread when there already is one with my problem in it)

yeah i just take a fruit salad and a wholemeal roll seems to b ok 4 lunch time and i live in aus ... very hot summer atm!!! :) haha

I had the same problem thank god ive finished school now I know what you mean about not finding some good stuff to take. Can you go home for lunch thats what I had to do.

unfortunately we are not able to go home for lunch we hardly have 30 min. for lunch... and there's so many people (400+) just in my lunch... so... yeah... I'm going to try all of your suggestions (other than all the egg stuff) *crinkles nose*

Maverick, I don't think that you posting on here was bumbing at all... I'm glad you did... I need all the help/support I can get.. :)

Thanks for all of your help!!! :)

I offen hav Cous cous with some grilled chicken, half a can of tuna, 1 red pepper, half a cucumber, a fist full of diced cheese, young spinch leaves and half a cup of sweatcorn.

Its great. If you cook the chicken that morning it will be fine unrefridgerated for 5-6 hours. But an ice pack is a great idea.

You can add plenty of other bits in there too. any veg or raw meats.

you may like to try my cowboy special... half a loaf f crusty bread, with olive oil not butter, tin of cold baked beans and a pack of beef jerky and a pack of dried apricots. (I'm not sure many Cowboys had dried apricots but I sure love em.)

What is the healthiest think to eat?

Even though I eat 6 times a day... I'm really bad about ending up eating less that a 1000 calories. Which isn't very good for me. I know. I've been counting my calories this week; Monday I only ate around 500 calories, Tuesday 700, Wendsday 900. What should my daily intake of calories be?

That is crazy. you should never eat less than 1500cals per day.
your not gonna gain weight if you eat healthy 6times a day.
if you exercise you should be eatting between 2000-2500 cals.

It's not that I think I'm going to gain anything, it's just I don't eat very much and when I do I don't eat anything really big. I know that my proportions are probably wrong... What is the size of a proportion?

Its "portion" and it is common to say that it should be about the size of your fist. Since this topic is for sharing recipes I would look in the Nutrition section. I just posted a nice food list in the Mens/Nutrition section. Check that out.
