What Are Your Secrets?

Anyone who has lost a good bit of weight (I've lost around 23lbs so far) will have little tricks and secrets that make the weight loss work.

I had been dieting for years before I learned my secrets. Once I realised them, I had very little trouble.

Some of the products I mention may only be available in the UK, I apologise if the majority of you are American.

Weight Watchers sandwich meats (at 20cals for 2 slices of ham) with some wholemeal bread makes a fantastic lunch. A ham sandwich for 160cals? Yes please!

Sachets of steamed vegetables are the best things ever. At 45cals for a selection of delicious veg, I live on these!

Skinny Cow ice creams deserve a Nobel prize. Chocolate fudge ice cream (about the size of a Magnum) for 73cals has to be the best thing ever.

Snack-a-jacks Popcorn at 48cals a pack is great!

When it comes to exercise, I guess I maybe have an advantage as I have a home gym in my house and I can jump on the cross-trainer/treadmill for fifteen minutes whenever I feel like it. But also:

I love sticking on MTV Dance (although I'm a big rock fan) and just jumping about in my living room.

Also, the Ministry of Sound Pump It Up! DVDS are fantastic (even if you are American, I suggest you look these up on Amazon, you will not regret it!!)

And my obsession with reading Vogue and Elle make sure that I never lose the reminder that I need to lose weight!

I also have a selection of skinny jeans in my wardrobe that I am DESPERATE to wear. Every inch I get closer to looking great in these jeans is so great.

Just walking or doing star jumps in your room will help.

And a glass of ice cold water burns 68cals as your body needs to warm the water up.

Wearing heels makes you burn double the calories when you walk, as well as toning your legs.

Always weigh yourself first thing in the morning, on the same day of the week, on a hard, flat surface (ie. not carpet). This will help you stay consistent.

Remember that you can put on 4-5lbs around the time of your period. Don't let it get you down.

Right down how much you eat in a day. Sometimes it scares me into behaving the next day!

Make your supermarket trip the most important thing you do all week. If there isn't junk food in your house, you can't worry about eating it.

Take a packed lunch to work. Sandwich/fruit/low fat yoghurt and water will make you feel great all day.

Every time you're tempted to eat something bad, remember how much greater the feeling of losing an extra couple of pounds feels in comparison to a piece of chocolate.

Most importantly, if you do fall off the wagon, don't admit defeat. YOU CAN DO IT! Jump straight back on, don't give up no matter what.

Remember that you are BETTERING YOUR LIFE. You are becoming healthier and happier. Despite what people may say, your life will be better if you are slim.

Good luck, and keep going!

Wow, there were some awesome things in there. I'm going to start cooling my water before drinking it! :p

I've lost 34 pounds and I find the best things for me are eating at the right times and I also try to eat at the same time everyday. Drinking water. And what I find most important, eating apples. Apples fill you up really well and if you're full, you're less likely to eat. Again, thanks for this post. I can't wait to see other's responses. :)

OK....now THAT was some good info!!! I love the cold water thing! It totally makes sense!!!

Oh yes....I also have a little tip I use that I want to add.

If I sit down to watch TV, I pull out my 2 little 3 lb hand weights and just keep my arms moving just a little bit. Sometimes one arm at a time, sometimes both. Not fast movement, just slow movement. I find it helps and you don't even notice it because you are watching TV. It's a great way to burn a few more calories and tone up a little more!
