What are some people thinking?

I'm in college studying Kinesiology as a sophmore at UMass amherst. I've lifted weights and had a steady cardio workout since high school, and fitness is a priority for me. that being said; a female friend of mine asked me to help her lose a few... sure.

She doesn't really need to lose weight, I think she would be happy if I helped her just tone up a little (mid section, quads, back, ect)

So she approached me this morning, and today was one of my distance days. I know she hasn't run in years, so I invited her along for a short, easy run before my long run as a warm up for me, and an intro to running for her. She refused to go. She said she won't run...next idea please

OK I said, "tomorro I'm going to boyden (our free school gym...I'm broke), wanna tag along with me?" She said no, she can't be convicned she won't get bigger if she lifts weights. She also feels 'foolish' on the eliptical and treadmil and won't get on the bike, for reasons she hasn't explained to me.

I sat on the computer for almost 45 miniutes telling her she's going to need to exercise to get the body she wants.

I want to help her, I like introducing people to a life of fitness, but can she be helped? I do know my stuff, and she is motivated to lose a few pounds before she goes to Europe for the next semester (study abroad), but I think she's just going to start eating as most girls in today's day do... too little.

Can these people be convicned our way is the best way to approach weight control?

wow thanks for the post, that hits of everything the girl said. It's nice to have a weapon to prove you're right, and why you're right.
