Some time ago I posted a thread where I was asking for pectoral exercises and someone pointed chair dips. Could someone explain what this exercise is about and how to perform it? Thank's in advance!
Just put two chairs facing each other leg length apart. Feet go on one...hands on the other shoulder width apart. You body should be at a right angle and rigid. Lower you butt to the ground (don't touch though, and keep you elbows back) and raise up again.
This really burns your tris...regular dips work better for pecs as you are leaning forward.
when i say dips using a chair, turn them so the seats face out and put something on the seats so they dont fall in on you. grab the backrests and do some dips. being poor i had to resort to this. same with chinning from the carport
just for the record, its been said thats dips are to the upper body what squats are to the lower body
I think I can get creative with the squat rack and barbell since then I can use the barbell as an "oblique bar" as they state on that webpage. You don't need leg assisstance right?
now on a side note, for those who arent able to perform many if any reps using the legs to get themselves in the top part of the movement then lowering themselves is a great way to start. same for chins.
IMO, some kind of combination deal with a dip station as part of it would be a good investment. i bougth a smith machine years ago because it had a dip station, chin bar and an upper and lower pulley system (plus is was cheap). i was able to stop using the chairs from the kitchen table for my dips after i got it plus i didnt have to outside to chin
same note, when i got my power rack last year i got rid of my saw horses.
