I started at 250, my first goal is to get bellow 200. In October I was down to 215 when diagnosed with instability in the spine, a small separation in my lower back and a tilted pelvis. I was forced to stop my usual exercise routine. Afterwards I kept losing and gaining the same five pounds until I became more strict with my diet, I've been an octo-lacto veggitarian since my teens, I cut out eggs and most dairy. I finally made it to 205 last week, but when I weighed myself this morning, 211. I had a girl's night last week, lots of fries, ice-cream and spiked lemonade and there's been some lack of bowel movements since then and I've been on a bit of a colon cleanse all week. It seem impossible that all the extra weight could be bodily fluids.

Hey Ashley! How much water do you drink? Dehydration can lead to water retention, which can of course lead to weight gain. Look forward to hearing back from you!

Mansur has a good point - water is necessary for weight loss. It seems that you may need to look at what you are eating. It is interesting to note that sometimes vegetarians gain weight because they are insulin resistant and are ingesting too much many sugars from fruit or vegetables. You may want to consider upping your protein and healthy fats and eating vegetables with low carb counts.

For your bowel movements i would suggest leafy greens and adding psyllium husk to your meals. I hope you feel better soon!

Are you suggesting that IR folks will gain tissue mass in the face of a deficit simply because they're eating too much sugar from fruits and veggies? Or are you talking about fluid retention? I'm just trying to understand your position a bit better. Thanks!
