Haha, figured i'd join. I've always been pretty up and down with my weight, never been in shape, but never been a lazy fat man either....

Right now I'm at 6'1 260... i was down to 220, but lived with my ex who let herself go and would bring home pizza every night and we never had anything healthy to eat in the house, which is partly my fault...

when i graduated high school, i weighed 283... i moved to TN right after that and got down to 260, then within a few more months i was at my all time low of 220, and i loved how i looked... Now, im back to 260, its an awful winter in MA, im eating better, ive lost 14 pounds this month, but, i cant get outside in this snow to play basketball, im not working, and nowhere seems to be hiring...

My main issue is im home ALL day, too cold to walk and the conditions are terrible, if i had a winter coat id be all for it... so when im home all day, i resort to eating, granted my mother is a health nut and i dont eat bad foods necessarily but i over-eat... i need to get back on to exercise and hopefully being on this forum can help motivate to post weekly weight loss, maybe some pics on whats going, and even find some workouts / eating habits that are working for others...

im 20 years old, just quit smoking, and dying to get into better shape, i just watched mtv's i used to be fat and the guy on there was practically me, same height, similar weight and age, and he dropped 60 pounds and looks terrific, if i can manage something amongst those lines id be ecstatic...

my apologies for the mini bible here :)

Welcome, my first thought is start a food journal on the diary page.

now, I see you are not working and you are home all day?
that is perfect. you can control your whole day if you think about it.
Do you have a basement where you can walk around?
an open area inside the house where you can do some floor exercises ?

Really its simple. get moving and cut some calories.

Calculate your BMR and cut that by about 500 calories...* never below 1200* Start slow and build yourself up. save up and buy a jacket. walking is an amazing starting point. you will lose weight if you start walking. start with three days a week and increase your days and mileage as you feel comfortable.

Good luck!

Welcome to the forum!!

I think you've already started to make fantastic steps towards your weight loss! (1) You joined the forum and want to be a part of this wonderful community; (2) you listed goals for your diet and health that you want to achieve; and (3) you quit smoking- which is AWESOMETASTIC!! And a great feat in and of itself! :)

As Tob said, try starting a diary! You can put what you've eaten during the day, what you did for physical activity, and even just put how you're feeling, what you did, or a joke :) You may find that you get lots of good feedback, advice, and motivation from the community to keep up the great work! :)

Also, there's lots of stuff you can do inside your home! You may want to research strengthening exercises that you can do at home to help you kick start your routine! :) And you can also try dress in all the clothes you have in your closet, and then going out for a walk! hehe I kid! :)

Good luck! And hopefully we'll see you around, and even get to read your diary! :)

Cheers!

I think you'll find that you can get a lot of information from individual's diaries, experience, tips, and advice. Heck, I've found that if you ask a question, you get lots of great answers!

I agree you have made the first step and the most important step was to quit smoking if you could do that you can do anything. MIND OVER MATTER! Nothing can stop you if you dont let it.

appreciate it, time to go start a diary apparently haha

glad to see some replies and that this forum is active, that was my main concern upon joining

Welcome, to add to what tob and Tik said, you could even do some house cleaning for your mom, lol. Any moving is exercise! You seem to be on the right track.

Good luck to you!!:waving:

... you could even do some house cleaning for your mom...

Love this!! I giggled out loud!

I'm sure Mom would love you to do this! I hear vacuuming and washing floors is excellent cardio! Sadly enough- I'm not lying!! :hurray:
