Weighted Vest

Just bought an Ironman 40 lb vest for $89 off of Amazon (free shipping.) Came in today. Got a few questions about it:
What exercises are good to do with a weighted vest (I pressume exercises using your body weight as resistance.)
Also, I plan on wearing it just throughout the day to school etc, so 1. how do I do this without looking like a complete idiot (walking around w/ a bulging vest on) and 2. is it safe to just add 40 lb of "body weight" to you.

The whole idea of the vest is to make everything harder, namely running, skipping etc...

Please dont try and go swimming with it on. Ive heared stories!

It would act like a really good fat burner if you did keep it on all day, but you may end up with bad posture and back problems. And people would laugh.

Be careful if you walk around with it on. People might mistake this for a bulletproof vest and shoot you for fun.

But it's not fun. Not at all.

i dont know if the added weight that sudden is good for you. like posture (like mentioned) or your joints.. getting that much of a bigger load all of a sudden.
they are good for making BW exersices harder though.

Start light and progress slowly

Any body weight exercise can be done w/ the vest: pushup, squats, lunges, pullups, burpees, step ups. Maybe start w/ 10 lbs and progress as needed. Set up a circuit of body weight drills and blast through it. The vest is a great conditioning tool. Have fun.

Man, if I saw you walking around with a vest on I'd start calling you Officer Travis Junior. lol I dont know how you could wear it at school without it looking awkward.

Some of the best things to do with weighted vests I think are sprints and running stadium stairs. You could do pushups with it too but I don't think that would really be any more effective than other exercises.

Also, I plan on wearing it just throughout the day to school etc, so 1. how do I do this without looking like a complete idiot (walking around w/ a bulging vest on) and

sorry, I don't think anything will help.

Just use it during your workouts.

Pull-ups, push-ups, bulgarian split squats, etc.

i think using it during skipping and plyometrics is it's intention. It wouln'dt make sense really to do it during a squat. You could just use a bar. But if you do it during step-ups/jump squats/skipping/push-ups/sprints it could help.
