Weighted Clothing

I am curious to know if anyone would know the effect of wearing about 100pounds (about 40kg) of weighted clothing, when you yourself weigh about 60kg. Will my speed/endurance drastically increase, or is just a waste of time?

thanks, but just a question, if you would wear for example, 20 pounds one week, and increase that by 10 pounds each week, wouldnt the body adjust to the weights?

hi,

first of all i wouldn't recommend a drastic shift in adding weights like 10 lbs a week. The body wasn't made to take on that much weight that quickly, especially if you are going to be wearing it everywhere. and second are you going to keep that weight on while you are exercizing. it all depends on what type of weighted clothes you are using. You would need something that doesn't jut too far from your body, jingle or shift alot while your moving, these may put a lot of pressure on your knees even if you are just walking, and cause joint problems in the future. I use a smartvest because they have the flattest weights and the vest is form fit to your weight and height, so it feels like its part of you. Mostly however, adding weights will mostly make your ankles and calves stronger if your top heavy (wearing weighted items above the waist), and that's only if you walk alot in a normal day. If you have on ankle weights, weighted shorts and insoles, it will help your quads.

If you are trying to get edurance and speed up just sprint and add a maximum 5%-7% extra weight to your body. That helped me add an extra 2-3 miles to my hour run when I am not wearing the vest.

hope this helps

alright thanks all of you, I've considered buying some lighter clothing than my original plan
