weight training in calorie deficit question

Hey all! i'm new to the forum. i've enjoyed reading all the great advice in this community! Everyone seems really helpful, which is awesome!

My question is this:
While working out in a calorie deficit but with a BF% in upper teens/lower twenties, does your body immediately burn lean mass when your daily supply of calories is burned? Or does it turn to your fat stores first?
Hopefully someone can help me with that.
Thanks in advance!

If your workout is appropriate and your deficit is not too extreme, you should minimal lean body mass... Start off with a deficit of about 300 calories and slowly increase the deficit. watch your strength during workouts, if your strength is dropping, you're most likely losing muscle.

Thanks for your reply!
My workout is focused around functional strength. i preform many heavy compound lifts and bodyweight exercises. not many, if any isometrics. i've been lifting heavier than ever here lately. passed many personal records.
i end most all my workouts with plyometrics with med ball/jumprope/and high intensity core training...ie. pushups, v-ups, divebombers, burpees, swiss ball stuff, etc...
not sure if this is an appropriate workout, or not. any comments/suggestions?

The breakdown of your diet is pretty important too, you gotta look at everything and not just the calorie aspect of it.
