Weight Loss Newbie, Knowledge Junkie

Hi there, I'm new! My name is Brittany and I am 19 years old. I've been obese since I was a child. I've been studying various ways to lose weight for years and I have never put it into play for one reason: Because I'm scared of the idea of having to do something for the rest of my life. I realize that weight loss is a life long commitment, and it scares me because if all goes well, I'll have a long life to live. Also I still have a hard time looking that far into the future, it's scary.

Anyways, all that aside, I'm hoping to use two classics to lose weight, calorie counting and exercise. My situation food situation little tricky because my family is fighting poverty. My mom is looking for employment, as well as I am, but neither of us are having any luck ( I am still working on my high school education, but my mom has a university education. Isn't it funny how that works?). However, that is limited only to the food. I've long excused myself for not exercising because I couldn't afford a gym membership. It was only more recently that I discovered I had two legs, and plenty of roads to walk on, and I've had skipping ropes in the house since I was a child. No more excuses for me!

I think my biggest weaknesses are milk and bread. I don't drink alcohol at all, I don't really like much in the way of sugary snacks either. I love chips but rarely have them anyways. I figured if I cut back to two cups of milk a day, I could lose about a pound a week just from stopping that.( an lb being 3500 calories) Milk is my main substance, water makes me sick to drink (even bottled water, it just makes me gag), but I'm hoping that my body will adjust to liking water if I do it more often.

Some tools I have at home are measuring cups galore, as well as a food scale.

Now for the big thing: 261lbs to date. My long term goal is to lose 115lbs. Yikes!
