Weight Loss Incentive

Hi all,
So I want to have an incentive/reward for losing weight (besides a better body) that will keep me motivated. I feel like in the past I have stopped before my goal weight because I think I have lost enough. However, I want to make it to my goal weight this time. Any suggestions?

  1. Plan that when you reach your goal you'll get a new wardrobe for your new body
  2. Save $ for every pound you lose and when you reach your goal buy yourself something grand <-- this is my favorite one
  3. Make an appointment to take professional pictures on your goal date (if you have one in mind)
  4. Buy an outfit in the size you want to be and hang it somewhere you'll see it often for inspiration
  5. Think of something you've always wanted to do, your whole life! Then when you reach your goal... allow yourself to do it as a reward
  6. (same as above) Think of a place you've always wanted to go and use it as a reward
  7. For short term rewards that come more often give yourself a treat (that pretty bracelet you saw or that super cool office pen from Nerd Weekly!) if you've stayed within your calories this week. If you're counting that is.
  8. (same as above) Give yourself a reward if you completed your exercise goal for the week.
  9. Having a healthier body with less risk of illness is an incentive too. The best one actually. ^_^

It could be anything. Absolutely anything. Wait...except going out to a big dinner feast once you've reached your goal weight. That's just stupid.

Those are great incentives.... and I agree about the food thing... Using food as a reward trains the exact behavior that most people who are trying to lose weight are trying NOT to do :)

I'm partial to the spa-type rewards... massage, manicure, pedicure. These are things I almost never buy for myself, but I love them!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I really like the buy a goal outfit idea to remind me where I want to be in my weight. Also, I am thinking if I am bold enough, maybe I will finally get my belly button pierced. But, I agree, a meal incentive would definitely be counter productive.
