Weight Loss help

hi guys. i m new here. i have a question if someone can help me. I am 5'4 and 135LB. I usually do cardio for 60 min everyday but now i am fasting. I have to fast for like 2 more weeks now. I started on the 4th. I read the posts regarding the fasting earlier posted and i figured what i should be eating. So basically i eat oat meal( old fashioned) before i enter my fast in the morning and then at night i have a dinner n stuff( most of the times beans, brown rice, fish). I eat pretty healthy. Now my question is will i gain weight during this period of fasting? If i keep myself in the low calorie range, will it help me maintain my weight ifnot gain weight? Any help me be appreciated.
 
Why are you fasting? I was under the impression that fasting was without food.

Keep in mind that the lower calorie you go, the harder it is on your metabolism which can lead to fat accumulating rather than burning because your body enters starvation mode.

The more frequently you eat (exp protein) the more you stoke your body's "furnace."
 
well its because of my religon.Yeah in fasting u do eat food but not in between sunrise to sunset. so basically i eat between sunset and sunrise. so what do u guys think, will it lead to fat loss.I stoped exercising because ppl told me that it will lead to muscle loss.
 
Fasting will probably lead to entering starvation mode. Meaning you will lose muscle before you lose fat. However, since you're in a religious fast, not much you can do about that.

I would continue exercising, eating oatmeal like you do before entering your fast isn't a bad idea. You may try some casein protein also (cottage cheese), it sticks with you longer.
 
cool. would it effect my fat loss goals if i dont exercise. the reason is that i m a college student and i barely have energy to exercise when i m fasting??

If i remeber correctly we suggested you drop the cardio but still continue weight training.

Hmmm.....what does this tell us....

Look I understand it's your religion and I respect that but don't have any illusions about trying to lose fat or reach any kind of fitness level if your not going to give your body the FUEL that it needs.
 
i have a girl friend from figi that does this fast. its not about losing weight. you are still eating and at a crappy time of day (night time) i'd save worrying about losing weihgt until you are over fasting. as far as exercising i agree that you need to fuel your bod. try running your car on empty not so good to run on fumes. i don't think i hit it hard core in this case it just does not make sense to - more damage than good? maybe walking etc. light stuff but not hard runs and heavy weight. but thats me i don't like it when my bod says its stressing out so listen to your body it'll tell you how it feels.
