Weight Loss and smoking.

Hello everybody!

Well, i stumbled on this forum by searching some for some good work out techniques on Google, and I am glad I did.

I am a semi-heavy pot smoker who recently started working-out almost daily, and though I do not feel like it is affecting my lung capacity much, I was wondering if smoking marijuana has other affects on my body? I do about 200 push ups daily, about 50-75 crunches, and 20-35 minutes of jump rope, depending on the day. Will smoking Marijuana somehow slow down my muscle recovery for the next day? or will it not have any adverse affects on my body?

I mean, I enjoy smoking weed, but if it is going to get in the way of my goal, I will have to stop that habit.

i'm not sure i should even consider this a serious post. surely you know that what you are doing could have negative effects on your body?

So, you're wondering if marijuana smoking (which was unlegalized for a reason).... is bad for you? Are freaking NUTS?

Of course it's bad for you, of course it'll have affects on your body and mind. Why should you quit just to get to your goal, why not just do it for yourself? It's a weakness to be dependent on something...

Here's a quote:

"Q: What are the long-term effects of marijuana use?

A: Findings so far show that regular use of marijuana or THC may play a role in some kinds of cancer and in problems with the respiratory, immune, and reproductive systems.

* Cancer - It's hard to know for sure whether regular marijuana use causes cancer. But is known that marijuana smoke contains some of the same, and sometimes even more, of the cancer-causing chemicals as tobacco smoke. Studies show that someone who smokes five joints per week may be taking in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes a full pack of cigarettes every day.
* Lungs and airways - People who smoke marijuana often tend to develop the same kinds of breathing problems that cigarette smokers have. They suffer frequent coughing, phlegm production, and wheezing, and they tend to have more chest colds than non-users.
* Immune system - Animal studies have found that THC can damage the cells and tissues that help protect people from disease.
* Reproductive system - Heavy use of marijuana can affect both male and female hormones. Young men could have delayed puberty because of THC effects. Young women may find the drug disturbs their monthly cycle (ovulation and menstrual periods)."

Enjoy.

Weight loss wise, if you do it on an occasional basis I don't see how it would affect your weight loss ambitions.

Emphasis on occasional, I'm sure you're not doing your body any favors being a "semi-heavy pot smoker."

I'm not preaching to you as I have tried it a couple of times in my life, and once during my weight loss ambitions but cutting down, if not qutting that would probably do better for you in the long run.

On an unrelated note, why are you doing so much push ups? Do you really need to do that many?
