Weight loss and Hair loss!!??

At first I didn't notice that my hair is thinning, mainly because I'm losing weight finally. All my attention is on my weight that I din't notice that I'm losing hair more than the actual amount I should lose. When people diet, do they lose hair? What can i do to prevent it? Should I stop dieting? 20 year old woman.

What do you mean by dieting? How much are you eating a day? Anorexic people lose their hair. Unless your drastically cutting your calories I don't think your hair loss is related to your dieting. Normal eating patterns should not cause you to lose your hair. I would see a doctor about it.

I agree with Teresand77. Post more specific info about your menu, workouts, height, weight, body fat %, etc. The two won't be related unless there is an issue with eating. Checking with a doctor is great advice.

I lost my hair before, both when I was suffering anorexia and not.
Hair has a high metabolic rate which is why they are affected by diets especially when the caloric intake is drastically reduced at a fast rate (crash diet). As your body gets used to your new eating patterns it should stop falling out. Make sure you are getting enough healthy fats!!!

Stress is one cause of hair loss. Some weight loss watchers are obsessive in losing weight which increases their stress hormone, Cortisol. Also, check your diet, maybe you can increase your food intake which are rich in Vitamin A, B, C, and E (fruits and veggies, eggs, turkey, beef and chicken)

I would suggest going to your doctor for this... I know for myself, I lost a lot of hair all of a sudden and it turned out I had a zinc deficiency.
