Hey there... I wanted to start this thread and find out who else is lifting weights, how much you are doing, what kinds of exercises, etc. It would be great to have someone to talk with about it, so if you are interested in doing that, post your name/regimine here...

Maybe we can come up with some kind of mini-challenge... I'm not quite sure what would be best - most time in the gym? most weight? who meets their goals for the week? I kind of like the third one b/c we will all be at different places...

does the torso rotation thing work your abs? or your back? I have seen it at the gym, but I haven't used it yet...

I do crunches too - but not with weights - yet... maybe I should try to do that, we do have the machine.

How long have you been lifting weights? I'm trying to figure out how to build up enough strength that I can increase the weight, but I haven't done it for so long that I forget =)

The torso rotation works your love handles. I've only been lifting for a little over two weeks. Just remember the more weight you do the bigger your muscles are going to get. If you want to tone you should stick with the lighter weights just do more sets. I tend to build muscle really easy and I don't want to bulk up before I trim down you're at your goal so you're probably fine doing more weights. I'm not sure how long before you should increase your weight, my fiance' wont let me increase anything before a week. Sorry I'm not much help :(

hehehe - you are fine! I saw one of those torso things at the gym today... but no one was using it, and I want to watch someone to make sure I'm using it right =)

you are fine help =) I do want to build some muscle, but after that just tone - my arms are actually doing really well right now... so I probably don't want to add too much more muscle there... I do want to shed some chub and build some muscles in my abs and my legs/butt however...

I have a great ab workout. It's only 10 minutes 10 different crunches and you do 10 of each. It's Beach Body Power 90. If you want I could send it to you, I've gotten the moves down. But in store for some pain you definitely feel it. Just let me know :)

hehehe - I have an 8 min ab workout too, I just never seem to do it... I have hardwood floors at home where the tv is, and until I buy an exercise mat, there is NO WAY i'm doing them at home =) I usually do upper, lower, and side crunches at the gym...

I tried out that ab machine last night, and didn't like it a whole lot - but I was probably also using it wrong!

I was using the ab machine wrong at first too. My fiance' helped me though make sure the bar is under your chest and don't come all the way up. I know what you mean with the hard floors I don't have hard wood but I have berber carpet that hurts like heck. I bought an exercise matt and it didn't seem to help much but then I put a towel under that as well and it doesn't seem as bad.

how are you doing with your weights? I haven't gone since Thursday - and I'm dreading how far behind I probably have gotten... It seems like if I can go every other day that I can make some progress, but when I take days off I have to back track and end up starting farther behind. My goal right now is to truly make it every other day for the next week... Going tonight, wed, fri, sun, tue... then I'll have thanksgiving and no access to the gym, but when I get back, the plan is on again!!!

you guys are so lucky you can weight train. Unfortunatly I can't go to a gym (most have an 18+ rule, and those that don't make you pay out the butthole) so I have to stick to the basic push ups and crunches. But I do have some hand weights in 3, 5, 8, and 12. Any ideas of stuff I can do with those at home so that I can tone?

there are alot of things you can do actually.... you can do bicep and tricep curls, you can lean from side to side w/ weights in each hand and work your abs, you can do lunges/squats with weights in your hand... you can lie on your back and do "bench presses", etc. they are hard to explain, so i'll see if i can find a website with the pictures and how to's to post...

does your school happen to have a weight room? that was where I first learned to lift weights - in gym class... you might want to check that out, b/c it is usually free!!! some high schools will have a before or after school program to lift, most sports require it - althought the xc runners I knew just ran and didn't worry about bulking up =)
