weight gain or building muscle

I have been working with a trainer for the last 4 weeks.

I started with a body fat measurement of 44percent....and in 4 weeks have lost 6percent body fat. We are working out 3 times a week. Aerobic and entire weight lifting program. I can see the inches coming off like crazy....but I have gained 3 lbs.

Can this be muscle?
 
take your bodyweight and mulitply it by your bodyfat % and thats your fat weight. subtract your fat weight from your total bodyweight and get your lean bodyweight.

like last summer i was 182lbs at 22.1% bodyfat

182 times 22.1% equals 40. thats how much bodyfat i roughly had. then subtract 40 from 182 and you see your lean bodyweight which for me was 142

now i'm 173 at 15.5% bodyfat

173 times 15.5% equals 27. so i lost about 13lbs of bodyfat. 27 subtracted from 173 equals 146. so i gained 4lbs of lean bodyweight

not an exact science but good enough to track progress. ;)
