Weighing yourself

Just put the scales in the bathroom... so before you have a shower you can weigh yourself... that's what I do.

PS: IT'S MAH BURFDAY!!! :D

Happy birthday Steven!

I weigh in as little as possible, just cycling shorts and shirt, or something similarly light.

I weigh in at the gym

so just easier to weigh in with shoes on. Always wear the same shoes and similar colthes, sweats & t-shirt, so for me this is accurate.

I used to weigh with clothes and shoes on because i used the scales you pay to use in shops.
But we got some good digital bathroom scales so i weigh without shoes on.
My trainers weigh about 2lb and my shoes weigh about 4lb.
I wear light clothing which only weighs 1-2lb.
When websites talk about your ideal weight it means your weight with no clothes or any other items on. So for real accuracy thats how you should do it, but its often a lot easier to weigh with clothes/shoes on.

I always weigh myself without anything on so it will be more accurate. I've even noticed that just the clothes weigh like a pound or two. Even if it's just a light pair of pajama pants and a shirt.

No Your Not Crazy......

Hi,

No its true, when I weigh with my shoes its 3.5lbs more, I also tested it.
When I was at home doing the weigh ins I always weighed in naked same time every morning so that way it was pretty accurate.( except for the fluid) But now I'm with a weight loss program and I'm weighed every week at the chemist I have to wear cloths ( bummer ) so I have the one outfit I wear every week and the same shoes at the same time. That way I know its spot on. ( I hope you guys can understand me ) heh heh.......:) a little humour from down under...
I wish you and your dad the best......

Cheers Dearne

Morning vs Afternoon weighing...

I've been told that you can vary in weight up to 5 pds depending on what time of day you weigh yourself. I weighed myself in the afternoon and weighed 163, 2 days later I did it again in the morning and it said 158. So my question is which one should you count as your true weight? Weigh-ins done in the morning or afternoon?

Weigh yourself in the morning was using the bathroom if you want the best consistancy. If you weigh yourself in the afternoon then you are also including what food and beverages you have had that day.

Overall I don't think it matters which one you pick because it is the trend in your weight change you are looking for not the lone number. If you want to be able to see the change properly every time you get on the scale then don't weigh yourself all the time. Every two weeks would be my pick

Consistancy is indeed the key. I prefer to weigh myself first thing in the morning, after I drain myself out, lol. i call it my empty weight, and its the lowest it will be in the 24 hour period. however, like said above, it is the average over time that we really care about. saying you were 150 pounds for a few hours one morning doesnt mean much if over 2 weeks you generally weighed 155-158. Then again, the number itself isn't the most important thing anyways either.

the other way to look at it is to consider what is the real world number. since you are going to eat and drink as the day goes on, and most of your activities will be done later on in the day, then your weight at those points in time are your true working weights. for example, a wrestler weighs himself at 152 in the morning, but comes back at 5pm and weighs 157. Now he has jumped an entire weight class, and that is his working weight, not the 152 he weighed when he was empty in the morning. he has to wrestle in that 157 weight class and at a body weight of 157.

but really, whats in a number? it is really only the change in the number that matters, not the absolute low or anything. weigh yourself at the same time of day, and you will get a fairly accurate picture of how your weight has changed, and that is really what is important.
