Hello All,

I am so thankful for this forum. I used this site along with a bunch of other research and a doctor's visit to make my decision to get the balloon. The first 3 days were bad, but I did not vomit. I went into the procedure last week at 216 pounds (the largest non-pregnant weight I have ever been). 7 days later, I am 206 pounds. Clothes are becoming looser, and I am excited about my prospects of losing more weight, although I worry a bit about when the ballon comes out. I really hope that I can change my lifestyle enough by then that it will not impact my weight loss too much.

I have come to realize that I and my husband are foodies - meaning that we love to eat, we love to try new foods, and eating is like entertainment for us. On top of that, I was an emotional eater too - eating to feel happy, to stop anxiety and to end boredom - and didn't really like to chew my food as much as I like to swallow it.

This gastric balloon has been a great learning process for me. To realize things about myself and my eating habits. For anyone who wants to do this, I'd say, do the research. It's not all sunshine and lollipops, but 10lbs in one week is amazing. My Dr. told me that the average weight loss was 20 kg. (about 40 -50 lbs). I am hopeful of that, but not confident. It seems that everyone here loses more like 20lbs until severe diet and exercise is also involved.

Can anyone post what their 6 month weight loss was, and if it was difficult to keep it off?

Thanks everyone and good luck to all of you.

p.s. The thought of eating spaghetti bolanese the other day (because pasta is still a bad idea) made me a little teary-eyed. How sad is that?!?

Hey there!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! I have not had the balloon, but I do know the sad feelings that come with thinking that you'll have to give up food!

I love food! I love eating it, I love being with friends and food, I love cooking it, watching it...you name it! And it's hard, but as a foodie, I have learned that there are LOTS of great alternatives to the really high in calorie food that I like...sure it might not be AS good, BUT - it can get me through the craving!

Weight loss is really about watching the calories going in, and the calories you expend during exercise.

If you are new to the gym or an exercise plan, start off small! Don't rush into anything big! When i started out I really enjoyed Zumba classes! they are fun and a great way to burn calories without feeling like you're doing a horribly boring workout on the treadmill!!

I hope the balloon gives you the step towards long term weight loss! If you need motivation, want to talk, or suggestions on recipes and exercises- contact me!

Best wishes!
