Water retention

I've been working out regularly for about six months now, gone from 232 down to 205 and now back up to about 215, but my body fat % continues to drop, so I know I am adding muscle. BTW I am 6'1" and 32 years old.

My question is about water weight. Because I am watching my results closely, I notice wide swings in weight that I am sure is water retention. I guzzle water - at least 2 gallons a day. Is it possible to retain water because I've depleted my salt too much?

Just curious.

I'm not very knowledgeable about water retention because of salt varyations... but 2 gallons of water is a lot and it alone weighs about 17 lbs. So that could be a large part of the swing. Not to mention that body weight certainly does fluctuate from day to day. Look at the trend, and don't weigh yourself more than once a week. It will be just fine!

Oh, and congrats on the progress!

The water balances out sodium in your body, so by eating more sodium, you retain more water. Your fluctuations are most likely just due to drinking so much water and the time it takes for your body to take what it needs and process the rest of it out.

hi, I'm sorry I'm not from US can you say how much 2gallons in liters?
thanks, sorry one more time...
