Water Fasting

Hello there,
I am fairly new to this forum and I wish to seek some support and advice.
I have type 1 Diabetes, diagnosed at the age of 4 and has been very uncontrolled from the age of 5. I would say about 95% of the time it is hyperglycaemia, rather than hypoglycaemia. My HbA1c is appalling, my last results coming in at around 12.1. I have a goal to lower this to at least 10 by february, however lack the motivation or discipline to be able to keep long-term control over it.
I found a solution a while back while in hospital (for other purposes I will mention later), which was a diet consisting of 80% less carbs, and replacing as much of that as possible with fibers, and the results were pleasing, I would say my blood sugar readings came down about 50%. I was only eating like this for 5-7 days but there were some very interesting results.
I am 14, 5ft"7in and 135ib. I was admitted to hospital around mid-march for Bulimia and Depression, and up to today I have had a full recovery which I hope to maintain, and I would like to now focus on my general health. However, since I have been out of hospital I have tried this diet again multiple times and have always found myself binging in the evening, something which I have ALWAYS struggled with greatly, which is probably one of my root causes for this eating disorder.
So now I feel it's time to kick the habit. I wish to go on a 30 day water fast starting on the 1st of January, as a fresh start. My aim of course is to kick the binging habit for good, gain control of my diabetes and create a new healthy lifestyle. I also think it would be great to detoxify my body and refresh myself, and I think it would be uplifting and motivational for me to drop a little bit of weight too, about 5 or 6 pounds would be a good goal I think. I have read up and done my homework on fasting and weight loss, and I am aware that I am likely to lose a lot more than that, however I also know that I am likely to gain a lot back without the healing time afterwards, so I guess I will take it slow and go at the pace my body needs to sensibly gain any weight back until I am at a wight I feel comfortable with.
I intend to use this thread as my daily journal (I really hope this is okay) and I will be monitoring my Weight, Blood sugar levels, any other interesting notes, water intake and if anyone is interested, my insulin intake. I have checked this out with my parents and they have agreed to let me, for medical reasons, to go ahead with this as long as they can keep a close monitor on my condition. I have agreed this is fair. My school starts early, at 8am, however ends at 2:30 so I will have time to rest early in the day.
I'm really looking forward to this and I would love some support from everyone! I have previously done 1 week water fasts, 2 week juice fasts and have once previously done a fruit and vegetable fast, however this is new to me. I have researched as much as I can and read through other people's fasting journals and I am excited to see how this will turn out for me!
I am currently in preparation for my fast, and I would say I have had 300 calories today. (A bowl of vegetables (Carrots, Cauliflower, Parsnip, Broccoli etc.), a glass or orange juice and a coffee with sugar but without milk.) I have been drinking plenty of water however I am trying to not have any other fluids like sodas or squash. So far I haven't actually felt hungry which is nice for me too.
I will try and post as regularly as I can and I am very much looking forward to this new experience!
All the best,
- Hannah!

Day 1: So, nothing really much to report of course. I drank some Green tea at about 1.30 Pm, however I had some melon early in the morning (74 calories) with my family in celebration to the new year. Feeling slightly hungry now but nothing really that can be squashed by a few glasses of water. Found heated drinks are actually more filling too, however I plan to stick to plain water and just save green tea for emergencies.
If anyone has any tips for me I would really appreciate it!

Day 2: I haven't been very hungry today, so nothing really to report there.
However, I had some trouble getting to sleep last night so slept a lot today...I think the next goal for me is to do more regular checks on my diabetes however I feel that it is settling slowly which is a relief. Finding it quite hard to resist food although it's interesting to actually realise how much of my hunger is actually my brain saying 'I want food!', more so than my body.
I return to school tomorrow for some exams, so that should be interesting to see how I am in a school environment, it will probably be easier for me to get into a routine though. I have also started a work out called ab ripper x, a 15 minute work out that isn't too strenuous but I think personally really does help tone down my stomach.
See you tomorrow! :)

Keep up the good work killthelights22!

As for Delmar, how have you come to the conclusions that water fasting is not good for health? Have you tried it? Have you actually done research on the subject?

The premise is that through water fasting is the body will work to heal itself at a much faster rate. This is due the body not being burdened having to digest foodstuff all day. When the body is free to clean, it will start working on the most imperative issues. Toxins that have been stored in the body for a long time will get put back into the blood stream to be expelled causing some discomfort in the first few days. Also, the body goes into withdrawals within the first few days as it is not getting the normal amounts of coffee, sugar and all the other substances it was used to. After the first few days, your body will start to feel much better and you can start a major cleanup of the body.

It is best to start by fasting for short periods like one to two days, getting your body used to the process.

* This cleansing technique has been used for thousands of years by all groups of peoples.
