Water Causing.. Heartburn?

Has anyone heard of this? Heartburn isn't normal for me and the last time I can recall having it besides right now was over half a year ago. However these past 3 days I have had it. Going over what I've had to eat and drink the past few days leads me to believe that my recent increase in water is causing it. Nothing else in my daily activity has changed except for water. The past 3 or so days I have been consuming about 160-200 fluid ounces. Before then I was probably getting around 50-80 with the rest of what I was drinking throughout the day being tea.

If I still have it tomorrow I'm going to cut down on the water and see if it helps any. In the meantime has anyone else here ever suffered from this?

Hi John

I used to suffer from terrible heartburn. Some of the things that cause the muscle in the top of your stomach to relax (which then allows for the acid to work up) are:

Mint, caffiene, chocolate (yep, all the fun stuff), and I found that greasy food did it as well.

If your stomach is full of liquid or food it can fill up to the top and push whatever is in there up to give you heartburn.

Try passing up the foods that cause heartburn and try drinking less amounts or disperse it throughout the day so that your stomach isn't filling up so much.

I found that Gaviscon was one of the better antacids on the market. If it gets really bad there are medications you can take, I was on them for about a year, but then at one point the heartburn all went away. Mind you if I pour mint sauce on my dinner it's game over! ;)

Hope you feel better soon.
