War has been declared.

Enough is enough, I've declared war on freeloading fat dragging me down in life!

Hi my name is Dominic!

I have tried in the past to stick to losing weight however it's been more of a yo-yo effect always getting stuck around ~104kg (230lb) but this time I will get through that wall and keep losing.

I am going to start blogging/diary my progress to help me be more accountable seeing it here for me to update every day to help me keep track and stay on the rails, and hopefully draw inspiration from this wonderful forum and maybe even inpsire others somehow (if I lose the weight).

Thus far my stats are;

Gender: Male
Age: 22
Height: 175cm (5'10')
Waist: 42'
Weight: 106kg (234 lb)

GOAL
Ideally would love to be 90kg by Christmas, which works out to be -1.5kg/week loss which I think is doable and probably lose more if I'm really focused/determined. For now lets see how I go and edit this spot as we go.

SIDE GOALS

  • Create a meal plan
  • Do 60min workouts a day (cardio+resistence)
  • Drink 2-3L water/day
  • Eat 2 servings of greens/day

Before starting this thread I had already dropped from 111kg to 104kg then up to 106kg and down, then back up.. so with a bit of persistence and willpower will push on through it.

A few things I have already done to aid in losing weight is cutting out any sugary drinks, pretty much have stuck to drinking only water (lots and lots of water) green tea, and have started drinking soy milk rather then the normal milk which just seems to help store fat. Also drinking apple vinegar in the morning to help my motabolism among other things its good for.

I have been trying to figure out a meal plan so as to not to just impulse eat, I prefer to have a plan of action to help me keep me on track, right now just the simple idea of eating small portions is working, but sometimes I just eat a little too much.. (can't it sometimes especially with mums good cooking...) Over the course of this Diary/Blog I will try to create a clear meal plan for me to follow and write it out here, aim is 1700-2000 calories a day.

As far as exercising goes, it took a bit of a hit since I moved house and am no longer close to a gym to walk to, however there is a park near by which I have been going to walk, and get some fresh air along the way which is always a plus. I also have some free weights which I've begun using to do simple excersises which are effective till I sort out a new gym. I know I don't need a gym, since I have all I need at home, but I prefer the gym the atmosphere makes me go there and get working with no mucking around.

Thanks Irish Princess ! Much appreciated, to you as well on your diary :)

Day 1:-

Calories: ~1,500
Water: 2L
Exercise: No
Greens: No

Didn't do horribly, stayed under 2,000 calories which was pretty easy, no planned meals so a few impulse food grabs haha... Water-wise I am pretty pleased tried to get past 2 L a bit over hard to constantly keep the bottle within reach though, didn't get to do any morning walks in the park, however I get a good walk workout at work being a Nurse keeps me running around on my feet -lol- but I know it is no excuse to not do a proper morning walk and get that beautiful fresh air.

Tomorrow is another day and another shot, never give up :)

Day 2:-

Calories ~1,700

Water: 1.5L

Exercise: no

Greens: 1 serving

Today went by really fast.. before I could really think.. one good thing with being busy is you don't really have time to sit and eat alot, so having small portions prepared is nice.

Tried plain brown rice with a small tin of tuna at work and it was really nice, along with 1 banana and kiwi's I was good to go. Really kept my energy levels up left work not feeling tired like I do some nights. ( I work evenings till 2200, but don't really get home till about 2230-2300)

Again, no exercise... yes I'm bad.. ohwell. Have to make it a goal to go early morning.

AHi DMR

You sound super motivated and i like the way your diary is laid out. Can i recommend posting your food on here too. I find that i am more accountable if i post what i have eaten.
I look forward to following your journey!

Hey Kate, thankyou very much! Does seem a good idea, I had thought of doing it... but I'm very lazy to do all that! But you've changed my mind, I shall do so. Because I know I liked reading what other poeple ate during their successful weightloss journey.

Day 3:-

Didn't get around to do some exercise *shoot me* haha but did did some good shopping with my mum so I didn't mind. However I have done a heap of walking at work today, was non stop powerwalking for the most of my shift (7hrs) I reakon I must of burnt quite a few calories with it all. One thing I'm finding is I'm getting way more energy during work when I eat brown rice for dinner, it's a simple meal and I will try post up the recipe when I can, but really gives me that long lasting carbs to burn till I go home. It really is a good feeling going home still feeling like I got heaps of energy to keep going.

Todays Calories/meals:

Breakfast:

SoyMilk REgular chilled 300ml 186 CAL
Weetbix, Original (2 biscuits) 117 CAL
1 Heaped teaspoon of brown sugar 24 CAL
1 Small Banana 77 CAL
1 Teaspoon of Honey 20 CAL (for my Apple vinegar drink; 200ml of hot water, 1x Table spoon of Apple Vinegar, 2x drops of lemon juice, and 1 Teaspoon of honey)

Snacks:

Yoplait, Vanilla Strawberry 152 CA

Ricotta & Spinich Roll 200 CAL
Half a Sandwich 150 CAL

Dinner:

Brown Rice Meal around, 400 CAL

2x Kiwi's 80 CAL
Small Banana 80 CAL
2x Mandarins 50 CAL
Small FAvourites chocolate 050 CAL

So around 1,600 Calories for today, which is under 2,000 so I'm happy with that. I'm really not going hard with all those "low-fat" products most of the time it really kills the taste of the original product, I haven't even neared my maxium calories for the day without going all crazy on the "low-fat" substitutes so for now I will continue with how I'm doing things till I find a real need to change it. Another thing I'm finding a little hard is trying to eat every 2-3 hrs especially during work hours, simple just don't have much time to havea timeout and take a bite.. if I do it's a quick banana.

Ahwell things are going fine I think. :)

AHeya

Glad you posted your food :) it looks awesome, so tasty.
I find granola or alpen bar type things are really quick to stuff in your face when you only have about 10 seconds!!! I love apples but they take too long to eat in between patients (i'm a dental nurse)

Keep up the good work and motivation. You're doing great :hurray:

heh Thanks Kate, never tried Granola or Alpen bars not even sure what it is!

Haven't been around online this weekend really but new week has started so back to the routine!

Did my Monday weigh, and I've gone down to 104 kg so, down 2 kg for the week which ain't that bad, hopefully by next Monday will be down to 102.5 kg.

Food wise.. weekend wasn't great haha but minimal thankfully, Mondays food intake was good;

Breakfast; Weetbix, light soy milk, 1x banana

Lunch; Yoghurt and some Walnuts/almonds

Dinner; Brown rice and Tuna, 1 Orange

Supper; Yoghurt and some Walnuts/almonds

Drunk about 2L of water.

Started to weigh myself every day, I know its not the best thing to do, but it sort of gives me encouragement time to time as well as wanting to record all my days' weigh ins.

But I'll just post up on my first post the Monday's weigh in.

Got down to 102.5kg so I'm really excited.. I've not gone down below 104kg in so long.. like... hell I cannot even remember when the last time I was below 104kg... must've been 3-4yrs ago! So thats given me a major boost in spirits ^^ Everything seems to be going smoothly, and whats best is I don't really feel as if I'm "dieting" because I enjoy what I'm eating. However it is repetive but I like routine until I find suitible meals I enjoy to mix it up with.

Going to check out the gym equipment store for some gym equipment (duh) because I don't see myself being able to go gym right now not having my drivers licence yet. Not sure if I want to invest into a treadmill or not aswell... I find its so hard as to which one to get... cheap vs expensive? all so confusing. But the main goal is to get some resistance training equipment, since I can just walk around the park giving me a good cardio workout then hit some resistance would do me wonders.

Been going good with food every day, though I really get hit with a massive craving when I get back from work.. wanting to chow down on everything, willing myself not to, and sometimes just eating a small snack, like a yoghurt and nuts which usually satisfys my inner beast...

AHeya

I weigh myself every day too, actually probably about 4 times a day to be honest. It is a bad thing to do but like you i need to know where i am.
Well done on reaching 102kg, it feels so good reaching a weight that you haven't been for years huh.
Really impressed with how well your doing mate, keep it up.

Hey DMR, have you thought about renting a treadmill?? One of my friends rents one, it's brand new and they install it and everything. Doesn't cost much either if you want something good but you can't afford it, just a suggestion!

Keep up the awesome work!!

mmm possibly but that would ned up costing a lot in the long run I suppose.. but have to check the prices. otherwise its the old walk in the park for now heh.

It looks like you've gotten into the swing of things nicely, before you know it you'll hit double digits on the scales and say goodbye to the yo-yoing!

Also, I really like that quote you've got for your signature.

Best of luck mate, 90 is very achievable long term.

Thanks Lone :) Yeah things look promosing...however sorta cheated bad this weekend, from 102.3 to 103.2 kg now this monday weigh in. Not too fussed I know it will come off over the weak and more. Yeah 90 seemed good for now, then further after.

Ended up getting the Treadmill + some other workout equipment, so I'll be able to really smash out more time working out in my own home rather then having to go for walks around the huge park for my cardio, but I will still go there on occasions and nice days. Now its just the anxious weight till they arrive which hopefully should be sometime this week.

New week more work, and back to my routine! should be a good week.

Just a thought; been thinking about starting a video blog/diary about the weightloss, influenced by the vlogs I've seen on youtube but I just get paranoid about who would see it hahaha....but meh who cares right..

AHeya

You sound as impatient as me. When i decide to do something i want to be able to do it NOW!!! There will be no stopping you when it arrives. I'm so excited for you mate :)

Haha feel sorry for me out in the isolated north west of Australia... it takes 4 days domestic express, and up to 2 weeks for normal Aus post! International express post has been faster than national for me before... it's pretty ridiculous.

A vlog is a great idea!! Really it would only be people from here that see it. Unless you're amazing at it and become super famous, lol :sifone:
