Hi Everyone,

I am looking to get into better shape and lose a few pounds. I've sort of fluctuated over the past couple of months but am looking to change a few things up, including my diet. I came across a few articles on the subject, especially regarding food/diet. Wasn't sure what to think of them. I was wondering if anyone has had any success with a meal program that worked for them? I'm not usually into 'diet' plans per se...I just want something that works long term.

I think you shouldn't try to do it as quickly as possible but rather change your eating habits slowly but consistently.
I use a nutrition tracker to monitor what I eat. When I started tracking I first simply entered everything I ate to get an overview on how many calories I used to eat (and let me tell you, it was a LOT too much). Then I slowly started to replace several foods with something with fewer calories. I think it's difficult to change everything at the same time, so just start step by step.
I use the Yazio app to track my nutrition, but there are also a lot of other good ones like MFP or Lifesum available. What I like about Yazio is that it offers whole meal plans which make it a lot easier for beginners to start with healthy eating.
About one month ago I also started exercising in addition to counting my calories and I'm starting to see good results from that as well.

Vitamins, minerals, amino-acids are vital in body, so you must eat daily at least some amount of healthy food to not get really weak and even sick. Basically you shouldn't rush weight loss, it take time. You could replace excess calories with tea or pure water.

I would recommend the NowLoss diet (I’m not affiliated with them, so don’t report me). I believe you can find a video explaining it on YouTube. Basically, the way it works is that you just cut your calorie intake by 500 calories each day. It doesn’t matter what you eat, or how much you exercise, as long as you cut 500 calories a day. This will add up to about a pound of fat loss a week.

This is unhealthy in general and dangerous for some.

What if I told you that there is a way to physically shrink your fat cells? Rooibos is a red bush from South Africa. The leaves are used once fermented in the tea’s
production, and they offer a range of benefits. Research has shown that components found in the rooibos plant, such as polyphenols and
flavonoids, inhibit the formation of new fat cells by 22 percent. The tea significantly lowers
dangerous fat found in the blood, such as triglyceride concentrations.

Before jumping on the Rooibos Tea band wagon, I did some research. Any so called tests were in very small samplings ( ie 15 which is not statically significant), & did not report any controls.
I do not suggest there's anything wrong with drinking Rooibos tea.
While Rooibos tea is a safe & enjoyable beverage, it's benefits appear to be overstated.

I refer to the following articles:
