Want to lose 10 lbs in a month

Hello, I would like to lose 10 lbs this month. Since early in the year, I've gotten relatively fatter, and do not like that much at all. The only exercise method I have is one hour of DDR, so I suppose I will do that as often as I can, and as far as eating goes, well, I'm working on it. I do have a bench press, so I guess that too could come in handy. I have not weighed myself in weeks, nor would I like to, but I believe my weight is currently around 164. (I'm 5'9") While I may have many methods, in this case, it's about timing, so how could I incorporate what I have planned to lose 10 lbs in a month's time? Oh and also, curious, but to satisfy cravings, would it make sense to take a bite out of the food but then just spit it back out? You're getting the flavor and all, but not the calories that go with it?

that's more than a little eating disorder centric...

How do you know you want to lose 10 lbs if you don't weigh yourself? Maybe you should set a goal at losing a pants size or something.

If you crave something, just eat a little bit of it. But don't spit it out...that's just...uh weird. Just eat 2 bites of cake or 4 bites but not the whole thing.

Hello,

You might check out the sticky threads on both nurtition and exercise for tips on just how to get started. And then start tracking your calories on a free tracker like FITDAY.

As for cravings, usually the best way for me is to just have what I am craving and move on... or find a healthier alternate that satisfies it.

Call me stupid but what is DDR??

Hopefully this was a bit helpful!

Cheers,
MissD

DDR = dance dance revolution.

That's a good form of exercise, but that depends on how good you are! ;)

Mguy, as per you name, I'm assuming you're a male. Depending on how you're built 5'9 and 164 is not really that far outside "normal" range. You may want to incorporate a lot of weight training. With a bench and a barbell you can do things like squats, benches, rows, etc. - this might be the best way to combat this. It sounds like you have "skinny fat" syndrome, and the best way to get around that is build up some muscle. If you're new to exercise you can build muscle and lose fat at the same time, so take advantage.

Oh, right, and the spitting cake out thing is pretty weird.

Someone on this forum once said something like: You're choosing to eat it. You have the choice not to eat it, so don't blame your cravings, because you made the decision to eat. Just look at the cake and say "no!" or as they mentioned previously, stick to one or two bites. You can do it, you just have to WANT to do it. :)

I wouldn't do the "chew-then-spit" method...like Mal suggested, that's a little eating disorder-esque.

Beside, I wouldn't trust that. I would want to swallow it all.

Alright guys, just updating on my progress. Currently, I've been doing an hour on DDR on a daily basis, eating less overall and drinking plenty of water. For other drinks, I have put them in a small paper cup, such as juice and chocolate milk. I have not gone near soda as of late, nor do I intend to. I'm hungry and about to go to bed, but I guess that's to be expected. Also, I do not intend on weighing myself until two Sundays from now, as I believe if I do so on upcoming Sunday, I'll lose motivation and think "It's pointless." So...just updating.
