Wanna lose weight but dont want saggy skin

Hi,

I'm new here and glad I found these forums. Well, I'm a 19 yr old 5'10 male that weighs 228 lbs. I was somewhat skinny all throughout highschool but gained mass amounts of weight after I quit football my senior year. Right now, I wouldn't concider any part of me even partially toned and I have developed quite the "pouch" belly. I'd like to loose all this weight I have gained over the last couple years but fear the "saggy skin" syndrome. Have I pretty much ruined my chances at being firm and toned (minus surgery) or do I still have a chance. I've been told drink lots of water as it helps with skin elasticity and also try and work out while loosing the weight to replace fat with muscle but are there any other suggestions. Again, thanks again guys and I'm sure glad I found this community.

Most people will tell you that saggy skin is an unavoidable side effect of weight loss, and that surgery is the only solution.

I recently found a counter-perspective:

I suggest looking into that and your other options. I've never really spoken to someone who had to deal with this issue.

Thanks for the reply Fil. I read that article over and it seems to prove several good points. Has anyone had success as described in the article or know of different ways to prevent extra skin?
