Hey everybody. I've been on here for about 4-5 days now and figured id start a diary and see if anyone had some tips or advice for what i might be doing wrong and could improve. For future refrerence: i am 13 yrs old, 5'6 and weigh somewhere around 150-153. My highest ever weight was 182. Usually i do boxing at least 2 times a week and run on my treadmill at least 4 times a week though i havent been doing any of that the last couple days. Been sick :( . Anyway, i feel like the last 2-3 weeks ive hit a plateau, so i figured i could use some help. :)

-- How much weight do you want to lose?
~about 25-30 more lbs
-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
~September 07 (Starting 9th grade :D )
-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
~Exercise and counting calories
-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
~my family
-- How realistic is your goal?
~Uhm, not sure I think its pretty realistic
-- When will you start?
~ i started a couple weeks ago

Anyway, heres what i ate for Sunday -

Breakfast -9am- 1 oatmeal packet w/ 2/3 cup soy milk = 180 calories
Snack -11am- 100 calorie Oreo pack = 100 calories
Lunch -1pm- Grilled cheese sandwhich, 1 yogurt w/ 1/2 cup granola = 425 calories
Snack -3:30pm- Slim Fast Snack Bar = 120 calories
Dinner -6:30pm- Lean Cuisine: Sesame Chicken = 320 calories
Snack -9:30pm- 13 baked nacho chips w/ 1/4 cup salsa = 135 calories

Exercise: 200 sit-ups (usually ill do more cardio, but like i said, i been pretty sick)
Total Calories = 1280

Any advice on what i could improve would be much apprieciated. Thanks in advance. :)

Make sure you are getting enough of the nutrition you require, especially calcium and protein, since you are working out.
Have you consulted a nutritionist?
Were you left hungry a lot?

Since you are still growing, you want to make sure you get enough vitamins, etc, so consider a nutritional supplement; something designed for you "young" types. ;) You just want to make sure your body is burning the right kind of fuel (fat, instead of muscle) and the best way to do that is to talk to a professional.
Keep us updated!

WanaB,
I have a sister who is the same age as you. She is 5'6 and weighs 200 lbs so I kinda know what u are going through. Ive helped her lose 30 lbs by doing Tae Bo with her. She started at 250 and is still going strong. Keep me updated on ur progress and I'll keep trying to help. You just need to remember not to restrict ur diet too much becuz u are still growing and need adequate amount of vitamins and minerals.

I havent talked to a nutritionist because the last time i talked to a nutritionist i was 11 and the diet that she put me on did absolutly nothing. :(
Ive been eating similar to that for about 2-3 weeks and im rarely left hungry. The only time i really get hungry with that is around the times that i regularly eat, i.e 8am, 9:30pm.
I also take a multivitamin every day.
Thanks BabyCakes + Qjay for your posts. :)
I went to the doctors today because ive been sick for so long and i found out that it may be my acne medicine thats making me sick so i need to take a smaller dose of it, so hopefully ill be able to get back to boxing, and running soon. i really miss it!!

Monday -
Breakfast -8am- 2 pieces Weight Watches toast w/ spray butter = 90 calories
Snack -10:30am- 100 calorie Oreo pack = 100 calories
Lunch -1pm- tuna fish sandwhich w/ 1 tbs mayo = 300 calories (yes i eat the whole can, im a growing girl :D )
Snack -3:30pm- Weight Watchers Yogurt w/ 1/2 cup granola = 265 calories
Dinner -6:30pm- Brown rice + vegetables = 280 calories
Snack -9:30pm- 1 banana = 105 calories

Exercise: 200 situps, 1.5 miles on treadmill
I think i need to drink more water. I only drink about 1 bottle per day?

you should be drinking a lot more watert han just one bottle a day... (assuming one bottle is 16 ounces) shoot for at least 4 of those a day...

Also, given your age, please make sure that your family is aware of what you are doing - and what your goals are... these growing years are very important.. and you want to be healthy...

I agree completely. Just be careful if you are going to work out on top of eating only 1200-1500 calories per day, you do NOT want to cause any long term problems because of malnutrition. Maybe you could talk to a doctor instead of a nutritionist?
Not every nutritionist is trained and certified with a science-based degree, some of them have an art-based degree, which can be a real problem if they think they know everything and they don't want to do the research.
As long as you FEEL good, though, you should be fine; just make sure you are honest about how you feel in your daily activities.

Keep posting here!

Yup, my parents know what im doing. i think they getting a little annoyed with me actually because im always asking how much calories they think is in something. :D
As for talking to a doctor about my diet, i dont think my parents would even take the time out of their day to bring me to go see one.
I feel fine most of the time but a medicine thats been supposed to help clear of the remains of my acne, i swear is killing me lol. Since i been on it for the past 3 weeks(i stopped about a week ago and thankfully im getting better now), ive been throwing up, getting stomaches, and feeling wiped out but thats been getting better the last week and im gonna start getting back to my normal workout routines pretty soon.
So i need to start drinking 4 bottles of water a day. Thats gonna be hard, i hate water, i much prefer diet soda lol.

Tuesday
Breakfast -8am- 2 pieces toast w/ spray butter = 90 calories
Lunch -12:30pm- turkey sandwhich w/ cheese and 1/2 cup dry granola = 445 calories
Snack -4pm- 1 banana = 105 calories
Dinner -6:30pm- i think we might be going out to red robin's sooo...

Exercise: 200 sit ups, 2 miles on treadmill, 10-10 bicep curls, 10-10 triceps, 150 pushups

if red robins has a web site, check them out for good choices for you to make -sometimes it's a lot easier to know what you are going to have ahead of time rathert han be tempted by all the other stuff on the menu :D

good luck and you've had a great day so far

Well i ended up having a caeser chicken wrap and i took out the parmesean cheese and the dressing. Thanks for the tip Maleficent, it helped alot. I didnt even look at the menu because i knew i would want a great big cheeseburger if i did.

Hmm...most of my days are like this, around 1200 calories. I know your not supposed to be going below 1200, so could me eating 1200 and then burning off some be harmful, anyone think?

1200 should support your basic daily activities, but it depends on how sedentary you really are. Your exercise program doesn't seem to be overdone, but you may wish to ask your doctor about it the next time you see one. Even a dermatologist has to have a basic idea of nutrition and health, so you could ask just about anyone in the medical field. Heck, ask a Gym/Health teacher at school, or the nurse (if you have one).
